The best route to satisfying a larger percentage of Brexit voters is to spend some of the resources and effort that lost money would represent on infrastructure, health care, welfare, industrial investment and culture. While stressing that we would never have been in a position to do so without the shock to the status quo represented by the Brexit vote.

I'm just going to ignore your pile of arbitrary percentages and dates because you're pulling them out of your arse.

No one will be spending a penny on infrastructure or welfare in your scenario, because a party running on a platform of revoking article 50 isn't getting anywhere near government. Unless it's the Lib Dems in another coalition, in which case they'll flush their entire manifesto down the toilet again.

as well as what Tarnop said, there's the issue that Labour won't have a majority government in pretty much any scenario, and that those changes take time to take effect.
It's not day 1 spend aw the money, 6 months later it's all grand and no issues anymore, hell there's plenty things I wouldn't expect from the last manifesto to necessarily get seen to in a full term parliament, sometimes things fall by the wayside.

quote:

Founder of site linked to mass shootings says he created 'a monster'

MANILA (Reuters) - The creator of a far-right online message board connected to three mass shootings that killed dozens of people has described himself as “naive and ignorant”, likening the platform 8chan to Frankenstein’s monster, with no limit to its extremism.

Fredrick Brennan, 25, who lives in the Philippines, said the free-wheeling web board he created in 2013 had become a hive of white supremacy, anonymous hate, and Neo-Nazism since he sold it to a fellow American, and said he felt a sense of guilt, “sometimes”.

“If I could go back and not create 8chan at all, I probably would,” he told Reuters in an interview.

U.S. cyber security firm Cloudflare has terminated 8chan as a customer, after a gunman whom authorities believe had posted on 8chan about a “Hispanic invasion” killed 22 people on Saturday at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas.

The site was also used by a shooter who in March attacked two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 51 people and providing inspiration for a shooting a month later of a man at a synagogue in Poway, California.

“It’s gotten to a point where if a mass shooter wants to go to a killing spree, they choose 8chan to post their manifesto,” Brennan said.

8chan’s main page prominently displays the phrase “embrace infamy”, attracting people with deep-seated anger, he said.

“It seems there’s nowhere else to go in terms of how extreme it is.”

Online message board 8chan creator Fredrick Brennan listens to questions during an interview in Manila, Philippines, August 6, 2019. REUTERS/Peter Blaza
Brennan agreed to media interviews because he had hoped to stop 8chan. However, he said the El Paso shooting was the turning-point, rather than the deadlier New Zealand attack.

“I did not call for it to be shut down like I’m calling for it now,” he said.

The site’s owner, army veteran Jim Watkins, is also based in the Philippines. Reuters made repeated attempts to reach Watkins, without success.

‘RABID CONSERVATIVE’
Asked if he had attempted to reach law enforcement authorities to warn them about the dangers of 8chan, Brennan said: “If the PNP (Philippine National Police) wants to talk to me, no problem at all. I will tell them anything I know.”

The PNP on Monday said it was investigating 8chan.

Brennan said he had no qualms about selling 8chan to Watkins who seemed liberal, fun-loving and “pretty chill”. He said he stopped communicating with Watkins after his character changed and he became “a rabid conservative” supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Brennan said he sold the site for both financial reasons and after being overwhelmed as its administrator and having to deal with child pornography, which he had wanted to ban.

“It was getting so difficult to try to control. It’s like letting the mental patients run the asylum,” he said.

“I was having too much mental stress dealing with it.”

He added: “It was pretty difficult to be 8chan’s administrator so there is some sympathy I have for them. Of course, that sympathy has its limits.”

Brennan said he had contacted El Paso police offering help in confirming the shooter’s manifesto, based on 8chan archives.

“Whenever there’s a shooting and the details are still fuzzy, I am always worried there’s gonna be an 8chan connection,” he said.

Hahaha yeah of course he wants to ban child porn, a real pillar of the community:

quote:

“I don’t give a poo poo about what any news agency has to say about me or my website,” Brennan told me. “I only care what law-enforcement agencies have to say.”
He said he expects regular backlash, but “I don’t care about media crocodile tears for pageviews.”
With that, he dismissed the idea that a journalist might have genuine concern about a website hosting photos of what many would call sexual abuse of small children. In his caricature of the media, reporters aren’t human beings so much as they’re digital machines fueled by advertising dollars.
I asked him about a forum called /doll/, which hosts provocative photos of barely clothed little girls.
“If you want /doll/ shut down,” he countered, “you should instead focus on the studios who are producing this content. Some of them are even legally based in the USA. That’s the real story here, not some perverts posting them online after the fact.”
The photos already exist, Brennan argues. So what if he’s building a directory through which they can be shared and discussed? In other words: Someone else is in the wrong already, and he’s merely using the fruits of that labor.

I've got to agree with Ms A. It's pretty great that your first instinct is to offer your time to help other people. As far as the religious thing goes, might be worth speaking to them still, see if they have other volunteers from outside their group. I read an interesting defense of certain forms of eugenics by him a while back, in which he asks if two knowing carriers of the gene that causes his boneitis procreate, is that any morally better than two people who give birth to a healthy child and decide to kick it down the stairs every week, but also says that medical education and financial incentives not to procreate might be better than prosecuting parents for having disabled kids, but then also asks why if we can throw so much effort behind preventing blood siblings procreating because genetics then why not testing.

I also remember the only publication that would run it was the Daily Stormer.

So I'm not surprised that he ended up some kind of Nazi-Libertarian hybrid with a site for people to howl atrocities into the void.
