Man so Ingrid randomly joined my party at the very start of a new month, after the chapter open cutscene. I was very happy! Then I spent money and wanted to undo it, so I loaded, and she didn't join the second time I tried. Or the fifth....poo poo. I want her now!!!

I gotta say, the way that the whole timeskip has been shielded away from the internet if you're not actively looking for spoilers has been great. The internet community has been really good with this game. I had no idea what would actually incite it until it happened. I just figured that the kids would finish the school year peacefully and some war would break out during the five year gap.

Yeah, it was really obvious that you're gonna have to fight the other houses at some point, because otherwise why would they make you choose a side but, like, even though I knew from spoilers that Edelgard says "gently caress the church", the way it came about was still a moment

Just 3 chapters left in blue lion. Dimitri is my favorite FE protagonist now, the guy is a loving rollercoaster. Haven’t seen a protagonist get dragged through the mud so hard in a while.

regarding the black eagle discussion like 13 pages ago i feel like "edelgard is responsible for the death of my dad and also seems like she's strong buds with wizard nazis, gently caress her" and "she was doing the best she could while being held at gunpoint by wizard nazis and has admirable goals, shes cool" are both valid takes. she's ready and willing to kill the entire church and is cool with a lot of incidental deaths along the way, but the church is also pretty hosed up as an institution and is responsible for a lot of the conflict in Fodlan. but claude, dimitri, or byleth don't really have a clue about that poo poo so i dont think its unreasonable to kind of hate her a lil once she declares "i will eat all of you, and completely dismantle the belief system of 99% of the population. also i've tried to murder yall like 3 times in the past year."

Also you can date her and El and Byleth is best romance, even if the s rank is super understated compared to Dorotheas for example.

Medium level spoilers for Dimitri's characterization: My read on him is that he's mentally ill. He's literally hearing voices in the guise of his dead loved ones, yelling at him for not avenging them fast enough. If you S rank him he admits that the voices never went away, he just decided to not let them tell him what to do anymore. I don't know if his symptoms match perfectly with any real-life mental illness but that's my read. He also has a healthy dose of PTSD on top of that.

ROFL Octopus posted:I’d beeline Axes with her too if you can, dunno if it’s feasible outside of Blue Lions though. It's totally feasible to grab Ingrid in chapter 6 at level 11 (for a free Pegasus Knight promotion) and switch her to axe focus in time to get her ready for Wyvern Rider. You can send her through Pegasus–Brigand–Wyvern Rider (at C+ axes, C flying)–Falcon Knight very smoothly. If you want, you can throw in D Armor for cheap to qualify for Armored Knight (without actually using the class) to get an early boost to 12 Def. D Armor costs 100 skill experience, so 4 weeks of (neutral, 24-point) study plus a single lesson from Byleth, or 3 weeks if she gets weeding duty. This tactic works for a lot of squishy units, actually. My Ignatz gained 6 Def at level 11, and Claude and Petra gained 4. Zoran fucked around with this message at 21:36 on Aug 8, 2019 |

I have a question about Jeralt: he just died in my playthrough, and I wonder why did Edelgard have him killed? if she's talked to Byleth about it she'd have known he had reservations about the church and Rhea and probably could have recruited him to her cause once she had his son on her side. seems like poor planning, but maybe there's a reason that I just haven't gotten to in the plot yet

Yeah, using specific class base stat that are specifically high to raise defences work great, though I wouldn't recommend to be silly like me and make characters Warlocks/Bishop for that +5 res lol.

Speaking of Byleth rewinding time I found it funny that in the BL route Byleth just stands there like a dipshit watching first Dimitri get stabbed, then Rodriguez get stabbed defending Dimitri, then Rodriguez bleed out. Like I get it, from a story-telling perspective something needed to happen to snap Dimitri out of his destructive spiral, but I wish they could have come up with something that didn't immediately make me go "Uh Byleth what the gently caress you could prevent this with one dragon pulse use. Particularly when he does that exact thing in another assassination attempt, even if it ultimately ends in failure.
