You have my sympathies - more than three days in the wet makes a tent less than great.

Also thanks for the recommendations!

Was the heatwave really six weeks? We had that one desperately hot week that was capped by The Bad Day that set new records, but other than that it was pretty ordinary? Certainly nothing like last year when all the grass died.

Heat wave has been far worse across Europe this year, farming has been very hosed with no sign of real relief.

Camping is great and I feel sorry for anyone who thinks otherwise. That said, we literally load up a trailer full of stuff when we go.

People who think this aren't either hiking or drinking themselves to exhaustion enough to appreciate just passing the gently caress out under the stars. Or the sound of rain on a tarp, or the sound of whatever that animal was rooting through your backpack at 3am.

Camping is exactly why I stopped attending music festivals. Yes yes, the stars are nice but less nice is waking up multiple times because the ground is loving uncomfortable and then you feel poo poo the next day and can't even take a nice soothing shower.

Go out stargazing and then come home again. The joy of rural life. One of very few.

And thanks to whoever recommended these Cities Skylines videos on youtube (sometime this year, can't remember exactly when). I'm finally watching my 'Watch later' collection on youtube since I realized I can watch them on TV when I'm having 'no computer' days.

We camped near Kielder observatory a couple of years back for the height of the Perseids. Got a really clear night for it and saw loads of meteors as well as satellites whizzing past. Unfortunately our small elderly dog hated that we'd dragged her out camping and got revenge by being sick on the air bed.

Camping is the absolute best thing, but you should do it when hiking or in nature. Big campsites with shops and pools, as well as musical festival camping, are of the devil.

I spent a lot of my youth wild camping by streams in the hills. It's just amazing. Camped wild for a week in the lake district two years ago and it was just the best.

Edit: Hart Bakery at Bristol Meads is amazing. Many thanks!!

The anal pedant in me needs to correct you that Amsterdam experience a vortex, not a Tornado.

However, a few weeks earlier there was a tornado at the Dutch-German border that flipped over some cars and caused roof damage.

My cousin tows a 100kg trailer with his Goldwing (with sidecar!), so I see no reason why not.

However for added convenience I think that my new invention should actually be immobile, and built near places I want to be, so I don't have to tow stuff. Also - and I'm not sure why this is important - it should have coat hangers with no hooks.
