I once had the idea of a "zeitgeist/American folk" trio of pokeymans. A ghost/normal wisp Woodie Guthrie, a normal/grass scarecrow Johnny Appleseed, and Normal/Steel robot John Henry with a bigass hammer. But Americana Pokemon lost it's chance in Unova.

Short of straight-up data mining full spoilers you know as much (if not more) about the new Pokemon than you do any game coming out. If that isn't enough then don't buy it until you're comfortable but yes, preorder bonuses exist to make people purchase games in advance to assure as many sales as possible. That is literally their point. For almost every loving game in existence. They are cheapo bonuses that usually amount to a cheap cosmetic or a couple of free items.
