Oh, I disagree completely. The whole point of that reunion is Amuro seeing what his dad is actually like for the first time, with no filters on either side. Before, Amuro could always tell himself that his father’s work was important and the neglect was something that pained Tem as well. The tragedy there isn’t Amuro seeing his father becoming a sad little man, but figuring out that Tem kinda never wasn’t & that he himself was on that path before the war.

Have it be post-Zeta Amuro, have him date Misato and become Shinji's father.

For extra credit, have him hold Gendo up with his Char-shootin' gun.

For extra EXTRA credit, have him do it with his good friend Quattro Vagina.

If you mean at the exact same time then no, if you mean in the same game at all then yes, GC* had Casval switch between the two identities over the course of the game

If Tem had never cared about Amuro in the first place, then he wouldn't have bothered bringing him to space with him and would just have left him with Kamaria all along.

I'd pay even more money to see Quattro and Char on screen at the same time. Spiderman meme, but with Chars.

I'm past the scene where Nicol impales himself, and Seed is holding up surprisingly well for me in the Both Side-ism arc--though this is probably because I have Ace Combat 5 on my mind and I'm whitewashing Seed with it. Dearka being bugfuck confused after being locked in the brig and forgotten about for all the important bits is making me smile.

Dearka is one of my favorite SEED characters, partly because I think the Buster Gundam is rad and partly because he eventually goes "Well okay, I guess I'll be a good guy now." Yes, I'm aware why they did that, but it may have actually been for the best.

I don't think the Duel ever did. Yzak never switched over, per se, he just chose to only fight one of ZAFT's enemies in a three-way war and ignore the other one.

I think you'd want Zeon or the Titans for that one. Federation occasionally has terrible ideas, but mostly they find something dependable and just... keep making more of it.

Sometimes, grudgingly, they make a few somewhat better to make ace pilots stop whining.

Zeon, meanwhile, just don't care.

It wasn’t as good as the first but they at least had the balls to show the monsters in daylight, unlike the first PR or any of the current Legendary Godzilla run.

And the Unicorn/Anaheim cameo was tasteful enough.

This is my theory to explain the Guntank at least, because it's so big it's kind of useless as a tank and so clumsy that it's no good as a mobile unit either. I imagine someone designed a small, efficient long-range unit that would be a decent stop-gap while developing mobile suits and then some general demanded it be able to fight on the front lines as well; at which point it had to become a mobile unit itself. Which meant increasing the size so it could move around in a battlefield. So now it needed close range weapons, because it had to be able to defend itself in close combat. All of which meant it took so long to develop that it just got folded in to Project V, and it was nearly as big as a mobile suit, without the mobility and basically never had the time and safety to target at long range because you need time to work out distances, vectors etc. manually rather than relying on a computer to calculate it all off now unreliable sensors.

In animation sure, but if you count MSV, games, manga, novels etc. the Federation are probably just as bad as Zeon when it comes to prototypes, Ace customs and so on.

Different variations of the RX-78 built during the One Year War alone. I can't read the Japanese, so I'm not sure which were distinctly produced, and which are just repaints of the same suit post-production. Notably, this doesn't include Io Flemming's Thunderbolt-sector variant of the Full Armor.

My personal favorite is Ford Romfellow's RX-78-5[bst]. Perfect about of greebling for my taste. But yes, the Federation loves its ace customs as well, and they did produce quite a few variants of the GM and Guncannon for the OYW. You just didn't see them in the 0079 anime because things like the GM Cold Districts, or ground type and sniper, didn't show up until OVAs started coming out. Meanwhile, Zeon had the Zaku I, II, Dom, Acguy, Gogg, Z'gok, Rick Dom, and Gelgoog all shown as grunt suits in the same run.

Add the one-off suits that had the potential to become mass production units (Gouf, Gyan) and the dizzying array of mobile armors, and it sure looks like Zeon wins the wunderwaffen war. But the Federation puts up a stiff showing that only gets better with OVAs and sequels.

The Federation's weird specialist suits and gimmick ace customs tend to be variants on the same general purpose frame. All the silly MSV suits generally use the GM as a baseline, even for goofy crap like the Aqua GM or the GM Juggler. Even the ridiculous kaleidoscope of Gundam variants are all just that - variants of the RX-78 design.

Making a ton of different GM variants by bolting crap to a proven frame is worlds less impractical and nutty than making a ton of completely discrete mobile suits like Zeon did.
