There's obviously room for more curation in video games, but I don't know why you're going to going to trust Epic Games to be that curator when there is concrete evidence that they care more about getting an exclusive than getting a game that they themselves admit to thinking is good. If you simply want less stuff to look at, just only ever look for stuff on steam you've already heard of- because that's literally what Epic is doing anyway, looking for things people have already heard of.

Ehh because it's a mess like with all things Epic, but if you want it, the whole thing would be this: You can find news articles saying they're committing to Linux, then you find tweets from Sergei about how they have nobody on the team who's working on Linux for the client/games, then you come across them partnering with Lutris for Linux support but in the comments people are saying this doesn't work even with games that have native Linux support like Transistor being sold on the EGS, the whole Easy Anti-Cheat debacle, etc... And then, of course, as part of the Easy Anti-Cheat thing:  Meanwhile Valve have pushed the whole Proton thing pretty hard and have been committed to Linux for a good long while now so idk, if I was on Linux I know what company seemed more committed to my OS.

Basically, if I see headlines that claim "people are mad about some poo poo!" but I can never find any real person mad about it, I assume it's bunk. Pertinent example: internet headlines say people are mad about Epic Games Store. I can find people who are mad about the Epic Games store, so I can believe it. Headlines said people were mad about the final season of Game of Thrones. I can find people who say the final season was trash and hate it, so I believe it. I have never directly encountered anyone, anywhere, who was angry about the size of Tifa's boobs that wasn't obviously meme posting for lols. So I don't believe it. And if you have to deliberately search in order to uncover a single person upset about it... that means they represent essentially no-one. Maybe I'm wrong. That's what happens when literally everything that occurs or exists get headlines that claim people are angry about it. There is rarely a way to be certain about anything anymore.

People complaining that "Strategy" tag shows then Siege or that "RPG" tag shows them some RPGMaker poo poo clearly don't know how to use tags. There are a poo poo ton of specific tags like "Turn-Based Strategy", "Real-Time Strategy", "Party-Based RPG", "CRPG" etc etc etc whatever the gently caress you're looking for. You can even combine tags. Steam's search could've had way more options but it's way better than you make it out to be.
