AITA for not wanting to honor my mother’s dying wish to give the house that my husband and I bought for her to my sister?quote:My husband and I bought a house for my mother in 2013 so she can move closer to me and our family. She lived there until a year ago when she was diagnosed with cancer. I took her in and she stayed with my family until she passed away two months ago. Thank you for buying me a house, you dear, now will you please give the house to your naive often-scammed BWM sister once I die? LadyPictureShow posted:My (F25) boyfriend (M45) won’t let me get the kind of puppy that I want This is back in the thread, but friends don't let friends get a French bulldog or bulldogs or a pug or any other short to inverted nose breeds. Sure, they may be cute puppies and decent dogs but their life quality is poo poo and they will inevitably die young with their tongues purple, gasping and bloody fluid pouring out of their nose and it is loving horrible. I work at an ER vet and I see this poo poo daily. If they don't die from over-heating on like 1/2 the walk a normal dog does, they die from aspirating their own vomit when they try to eat or drink and then choke. Or we do surgery to try and correct their hosed up, elongated palates and they die from swelling and complications after a day or so on a ventilator. Even 6 month, otherwise healthy puppies die all the time. Get a nice, normal-nose dog and watch it die from cancer after a decent lifespan. It'll still be horrific, but at least it can breathe comfortably for its whole life before it dies.

I'm obviously not in the position to talk about all dogs' lifespans, but in my field a dog that is 9-12 is doing drat good regardless of breed or what eventually ends its life. Cancer, kidney failure or hemoabdomen are the main things I see in older dogs. My friend recently put down her chihuahua that was almost 17. That's drat good for a small dog. A larger dog can get 8-16 years depending on genetics or whatever. I've seen some really old dogs and cats. The oldest cat I personally saw was 23, the oldest dog was a Chi/terrier mix that was about 20. I don't work in the Onco dept., but I swear those doctors make deals with the devil. They keep those patients alive and comfortable for ridiculously long times and then they try to lend any of their findings in cancer research to human cancer research doctors so that they can test and collaborate findings. It's really goddamn amazing. I'm not sure that dogs or cats are dying sooner, but that we're finding out just why they are declining sooner. Hopefully that just lets us identify problems sooner so as to give them longer, happier lives.

The unfortunate increase of dog friendly spaces means that dogs are loving everywhere, and since we know that everything causes cancer, an increase of things means an increase of cancer.

Also there's the simple fact that all dogs gotta die from something. So if people are spending more for better quality food you get a bunch of dogs that would have gone in their sleep from a heart attack at 10 dying of cancer at 12 instead. Also more vet care means more diagnoses. 20 years ago that battle with cancer would just be "hey the dog can't walk" and then euth'd.

AITA for threatening to quit my friend's podcast if he doesn't stop bringing his girlfriend on the show? quote:Me and my friend, Mark, have our own podcast dedicated to movies and entertainment. The podcast was his idea and he's more or less the main host, but I'm the co-host and we both appear on every episode, sometimes just the two of us and sometimes with other friends. But about a month ago, Mark brought in his girlfriend, Meg, and she added absolutely nothing to that episode. We were discussing the Phase 4 of MCU films and during our conversation, Meg just randomly interrupts and asks "Is Batman in the MCU?" The whole episode was just her asking really dumb questions like that and Mark had to explain to me that she doesn't really follow movies as close as we do. I asked him why he even brought her on, and he said "She wanted to be on, so I said yes." I even told him that our podcast would benefit from having guests who are more knowledgeable on movies and he said that he'll try to explain that to her. Time for a game of Identify! This! Podcast!

Not gonna lie I would love the opportunity to be a podcast's Yoko Ono and just destroy that poo poo because nothing of value would be lost. Also the entire premise of podcasts is explaining poo poo to people and that guy is dumb as gently caress for not realizing the girlfriend was giving him easy layups to say the obvious. The best podcasts are reductions of common and accessible knowledge relayed in a fun and entertaining way. Like this idiot thought his podcast was a backdoor to being a tenured professor teaching masters level classes on pop media and having a layperson with genuine questions impeded that fantasy.

Yeah it was definitely a case of Parenting at the Last Minute. That's one of the threads I find interesting in these Reddit stories. Parents who realize their legal control over a child is about to expire and think they can last minute form a connection or have one last bit of control over their child's life.

More a case of trying to pay someone to do parenting for them, and seems like after that they completely shut down and resigned themselves to their child being an unwanted houseguest they legally can't evict.

AITA for laughing hysterically during the movie my gf decided we would watch? (A Time to Kill) So I get that this is an extremely dramatic movie and wasn't intended to have any comedic moments.... however, when the antagonists were introduced the one dude is wearing a loving crop top wife beater. The second I saw it I burst out laughing and said the more evil they try to make this guy look the more absurd and less believable it is. So once the redneck duo started getting ready for the most abhorrent scene I was laughing maybe the hardest I've laughed during a movie. It is absolutely loving ridiculous to picture a person so evil choosing to wear a crop top and that's literally all he wears during the entire movie as his primary costume. Of all cinema I think it was the worst choice utilizedamd its in the final cut.... tbh I still laugh whenever she references how hosed up it was for me to laugh during this movie but I couldn't help it. It would be like papa smurf as an antagonist in The Pianist

I (26f) found videos my husband (28m) took of my sister at a fourth of July family event. He broke down, begged for forgiveness after I brought it up... and I just feel confused. This is weird to say the least. I'm not sure what to think at this point. Me and my husband have been together since high school, and we got married when I was 22 and he was 24. He is absolutely my DREAM man and I wouldn't of traded him for anything. I love him to death. I've never questioned his love or loyalty for me period, so this is just... A weird situation I've run into. This last fourth of July, my entire family got together and celebrated at a local spot in our city. There were tons of activities and things to do, and it was amazing. At one point, me and my husband and two of my younger sisters were in line to do a prize wheel. Right next to us, was a second line for a prize wheel as well. So there were two. In that line, was my sister, my dad and two younger brothers. I vividly remember this when it happened. Me and my husband were hugging, joking, laughing and having fun while we were waiting. He was hugging me and kissing on me, and it was just nice. I was absolutely in heaven. Well, that memory has been completely tainted as of today though, and now I'm extremely sad and in a weird place mentally. I was going to go through Google Photos and look for a specific time in July, but couldn't remember when. I just searched July, and looked through everything. I saw a video and the preview of it was obviously my sister. I instantly recognized it, and remembered it was from the fourth because of her outfit. I thought it must have been an accident that I took somehow? Then... I realized next to that one... Were about 5 others. I played them and realized it wasn't me that took it... They had to of been my husband's videos. The sound was of me and my husband talking, kissing etc and the videos were solely focused on my sister standing in line. I felt weird about it and asked him as soon as he got home, and he broke down and apologized. I was broken, because part of me thought it HAD to of been an accident. He didn't know it was recording. Totally unintentional. But nope. It was on purpose. He cried and begged me to forgive him, he apologized a million times and swore he'd never do it again and "he didn't know why he even did". I'm confused and just lost right now. I don't feel the same about him suddenly and I'm scared. I've loved this guy for years and years. He's the only guy I've known as an adult. He's my soul mate. Now I'm sitting here... Hes next to be sleeping, and I almost feel disgusted. He took a video of my sister waiting in line. A moment that should've been innocent, he ruined it. He was kissing on me, hugging me, whispering in my ear how he loves me.... And recording my sister. I feel like I'll never see him the same again. I don't know what to do. I've been with this guy for years and years, we're trying to start a family of our own. We're in love. On one hand I feel like it's too much to just throw what we have away.... But on the other hand, I feel weird toward him now. Like he's a stranger or something. I don't know please help. Tl;dr; found videos my husband took of my sister at a family event. She was just waiting in line like we were. I feel weird and don't see him the same... But we've been together since high-school and I don't know that I should throw it away over this. I'm so confused. So conflicted. Someone please help me

Accents are weird and as long as folks are understood the rest shouldn't matter nearly as much as some people think it does. Unfortunately some of those people who think it does are in positions where they can make it so, but that's no reason to join them.

AITA because I have an issue with my boyfriend 'surprising' me before and after work? this is something I've received mix feedback on from family and friends, so why not ask strangers online, right? lol! So here's my situation, I'm 25f and have dated this man (32) who we shall call Cal for 4 months. In my view this behavior is a bit extreme for a relationship this is still in the early stage of development. I'm vet tech at an animal hospital at least 30mins from my home and 45mins from Cal and work full time. Lately Cal has been surprising me by visiting me 10 minutes before my shift (I usually get to work early) or waiting outside my job next to my car until the shift is over. The first two times, okay...um sweet, I suppose. But this has become a weekly occurrence, 3x times a week if he's not busy with work. He never tells me when, or even asks, he just does it. He knows my schedule because it's a set schedule. I understand him seeing it as a romantic gesture, but for me when I'm getting out of work I'm either unkept or aggravated and just want alone time. And the 10 minutes before my shift I can't handle. I like to clock in early, at least 5mins so I can't manage a quick 3min talk. To me it's even a bit stalkerish. I've brought this to his attention at 3 times and he's taken it as insult, no matter how I explained it. I talked to friends and families in addition. Some say I need to give him a break - he's just trying to be lovey dovey - and accept it as the affectionate gestured it is, along with me being an a hole and selfish. And then some say this is red flag behavior I need to address despite already addressing 3 times. So AITA
