The final life support systems to RSS being cut since every site wants you to use their Twitter account as an RSS which doesn't work since they all want to be full "how do you do fellow kids" relatable brands poo poo and also constantly repost old articles on there so it's impossible to know what's actually a new article.

Yeah, that completely sucks. It was the most logical way to read new news from blogs and category sections of larger sites, it's far better than email subscription with weekly "what you missed" newsletters or allowing sites to send *bing bing* push notifications or having to search for them in your social media feed.

I've completely stopped following a bunch of blogs now that I can't just drop down a live link and see what new article titles there are and I have no idea why they did it.

Because I still live in the past I use a stand alone rss reader sharpreader. It hasnt been updated in years and can be a pita finding rss feeds of some sites which publish them but dont document what they are easily. Means I kept my rss lists forever when google and browsers ditched inbuilt support.

I swear loving news apps are the worst, and enter a self-propelling cycle of reactionary shite until you're getting daily mobile notifications of "the trans are at it again!" and the comments are a tier below even usual newspaper comments, user4952169643: "they need jusus" MusolinisNutHair: "hiler was right" and it makes me loving pine for the days when my news feed was a bunch of engineering and music stuff and the odd complaining about Gordon Brown, and politics was for coffee shops and chat threads. Big list of protests going on today if anyone's interested (source, with event links). Busy myself, and there's obviously no chance that Boris would actually listen to a bunch of protestors, but public outcry is an important part of controlling the narrative & will feed into how the courts and Parliament react to the prorogation so still very worthwhile imo.

They have occasional interesting historical episodes, but they're far too hand-wringingly centrist for me, personally.

There's a big list of podcasts in the OP if you're looking for others to try - mostly UK, but there's also US and other specific ones.

quote:

Off the Fence - Brighton based, covering UK & Global topics. Pretty chill and professional peeps. Older 'casts can be found in the PLATFORM B archive.
Reel Politik - The Original Leftie Hate Trolls. Check 'em out.
We Don't Talk About The Weather - Two cool guys discuss news and other stuff. The UKMT-iest of Podcasts.
Desolation Radio - Socialism from a Welsh perspective. Informative hosts.
Revolutionary Despatches - Two new guys starting out.
Trashfuture - Theme of the week style podcast about capitalism and how much it fucks up. Cool podcasters, sometimes working with Reel Politik
Agitpod - Owen Jones & Ellie Mae O’Hagan discuss news.
Reasons to Be Cheerful - Former Labour leader Ed "Red Ed" Milliband and Geoff Lloyd shoot the poo poo, and discuss general politics. Sometimes with guests.
Novara Media - Numerous fluctucating commentators including Matt Zarb-Cousin, Max Shanly, and James Butler among others. Varying topics with guests.
[Citations Needed] - Covers the US, focussing on the media, PR, and assorted bullshit. Also some socialist history topics. Very informative.
Chapo House Media - More US focused, from a leftist perspective. Basically a US version of Reel Politik, but with better mics. Worth a listen.
General Intellect Unit - Podcast of the Cybernetic Marxists. Examining the intersection of Technology, (Left) Politics, and Philosophy; decently in-depth and theory-driven as podcasts go.
Stats for Lefties - Pod of the Stats for Lefties twitter. Deals in...uh...stats for lefties. Often in depth.
Boonta Vista - Australian focused commentary on all the political insanity from the land down under.
Media Democracy Pod - Examines our garbage media, and what can be done to improve it - as well as news commentary.
Politics Theory Other - UK based, podcasting about radical politics, critical theory, and culture. Pretty informative.

And Podcasting is Praxis - UKMT's very own podcast run by the UKMT Goons :toot:

The secret ending is if you’ve collected all the lore pieces then you have the option of joining him because you realise an ancient horror from beyond the stars is better than the current corrupt status quo. Then you face Lizzie Ascended
