I made my home on a Cheeto planet for the NEXT update but the BEYOND update changed it to a basic green planet. It's nice they didn't change terrain gen to completely overtake my base but why'd they have to let the colors change?!

I did a Nexus mission with a couple of randos this afternoon. Just tame some animals, nbd. The planet it warped us to was kinda toxic, but got everything done in short order. I thought I might want to come back so I plopped down a base computer and threw up a few wooden walls/ceiling to give a little shelter from the fartstorms. The other guy whose mission we were doing threw down a whole bunch of refiners and stuff. I wandered off to scan plants and whatnot. He left the group and I went back to the base. All the refiners were still running - converting platinum to nanites. He also built a large refiner and put 10 of some kind of craftable in each of the 3 slots. I checked 'em out and 10 were worth 150 million units. Guess I can buy whatever I want now. Thank you, random nice person whoever you were.

Even then, i needed to add walls in, because my floor was something like 15x15, maybe bigger. Inside, you got weather effects. Luckily i'm on an extreme planet with bugged gear, so i never got colder and used the time to experiment. It looks like the game only expects you to build rooms that aren't quite as big, because as soon as i put walls and arches in, I stopped getting the effects. Also figured out that I need to use a prebuilt room to attach the galactic trade terminal onto a wall, which is kind of annoying. Ah well, got a nice little trade dome outside now. Also using the basement floor as a battery and storage floor, considering i'm running a mining base out of here I can never have too many batteries. Also big rows of battery banks looks really cool.

Nice thing about the cube rooms and glass cubes is that they have snap points for 4 batteries/solar panels so there's no manual wiring required and it's all very tidy.

The cube rooms are also good for putting your specialist terminals in as you can make a big open plan office type affair rather than a series of circular rooms with precisely one thing in each.

You can put more than one thing into the circular rooms. My main base has a circular room with the appearance adjuster and one of my specialists in it. Well OK, you can combine one thing with 1-3 specialist terminals, though it probably gets a bit cramped if you go full hog. (So instead I put my other specialist and the overseer into a cube room. )

Oh cool, they must have changed that at some point. When bases launched it was strictly one specialist terminal per room.

That latest patch sure is taking its time making its way to PS4. I guess since it's a big one the qualification takes its time but VR needs some improvements. This game has by far the worst drift I've seen on PSVR and I've sunk a couple of dozen hours into Skyrim VR which at worst had me playing sideways, but NMS makes me hands float a few feet to my right frequently.

Gonna try "enhanced" settings and see how that goes.

Had the same issues with a beefier system and cleared everything up by setting thread counts lower than my actual number of cores: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/92j15j/psa_pc_players_highly_recommended_change_to_boost/ I adjusted the the sum of low- and high-priority threads to slightly less than my logical cores (3+3 out of 8). Made streaming and VR buttery smooth as well.

3600 and 1060 6GB here. No issues with most settings maxed (I think I dropped texture quality to high). The game defaulted to 6 low priority threads and 3 high priority which hasn't given me any issues.

I found a mod which mostly fixed my issues with pop-in. It doesn't seem to give a noticeable performance hit and looks much nicer, especially on grassy planets https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1181?tab=files Want to really impress the people giving you photo missions? 2600 and 1660ti, solid 56-60 at max settings unless I go to the anomaly / was having some issues with rain the other day. Haven't messed around with any config files. If it reaches a state where performance drops it doesn't recover until quitting out though.

It WAS filled with farming stuff though. So I dismantled the whole thing because the 'power your base' thing is dumb, stored what i could carry in my freighter as i built all 10 of my storage units. I also built myself a useless/homey 'captains quarters/base' on my freighter (using increased scale corner desks as 'walls') next to my ... medium refiner. doh. NO REFINING WHILE DADDY SLEEPS.

You do constantly hear a faint beeping so it's kind of annoying, but I put up with it while trying to fix the other bug because I was on an extreme planet Once I fixed my base I fixed the gear bug by moving the module to my inventory, then back to my tech slot. Works normally.

Is there some kind of bug with doors and square prefab rooms? Whenever I try to add a door it says "construction limit reached" but if I build a round room in the same spot it takes doors just fine. It's definitely not the actual construction limit as this is literally the first part I placed after the base computer.

I don't understand why they are separate things. It was annoying when the game told me to make a save point when I already had a beacon.
