Every time I see that I’m reminded of a day at work where a urinal’s auto-flush failed, the urinal overflowed, and the water flooding across the bathroom floor continually triggered the paper towel dispenser.

But he makes it home, dragging his corpulence across the cloth seat, touching the metal A-pillar for support when getting out...

It wasn't locked, it was just a death trap. https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/na...-559149941.html quote:Reid said divers sleep overnight in an open bunk room on the vessel's lowest deck. Coming up to the top deck to get off the boat requires navigating a narrow stairway with only one exit. If the fire was fast-moving, he said, it's very likely divers couldn't escape and the crew couldn't get to them. 33 people packed into a small room with one narrow exit. If the fire started near that exit, that would be the end of that.

Not as unbalanced as it looks; most of the truck's weight is in the cab and engine, the back end is only heavy if it's reinforced or has one of those dual rear wheel designs. Still unbalanced, just... not as unbalanced as it could be. Also if the axle is exposed, it's going to bend that fucker on the tow bed's edge when it hits a pothole

Someone came close to eating a dumpster with their truck behind our building last week, instead they rolled it around seven times into a cornfield out back. Not sure it's quite OSHA, but we had a safety briefing the next morning about situational awareness and watching out for vehicles [at the end of a gravel service road]

Sorry for your loss. It's absolutely awful. Civilian vessels are always going to have a very limited ability to respond to incidents once they have occurred, and the smaller and more densely-populated the vessel, the worse it will be. The crew probably did the best they could by abandoning what sounds like an exploding boat; if the passenger accommodation was actually built without a viable escape route the negligence is on the part of the people who designed, approved, and built it that way. It's a huge trend to criminalize seafarers, simply because they are so much closer to the incident scene due to the nature of the profession, but the crew is going to have very little control over what equipment they are working with, and even less control over how the vessel itself is built.
