It really triggers the old Star Wars nerd in me when the designer gets so many major design features of the Star Destroyer wrong. That's not a tractor beam antenna--that's the main communications antenna! That's not a radar dome--that's the reactor! It's not 1.4 kilometers long, it's 1.6 (the sticker gets it right)! The giant spinal gap is inexcusable; Raskolnikov's Star Destroyer has a smaller gap. It's a bit shorter (looks too squat); it's also >3x the part count, but has a full interior. I was really looking forward to a new UCS ISD, and was planning on buying one, but this one is just disappointing as hell. It doesn't look that great and the price is ridiculous even by licensed Lego standards.

I'll get one the question if when.. probably get it for a Christmas gift for myself depending on how much the Liebherr kit costs. I missed out on the original lego UCS Destroyer and this one looks more proportionately accurate. Price is a disappointment but going by weight/volume, it's tracking with the UCS Falcon 6.9 kg vs SD 6.0 kg roughly 14% difference, $799 vs $699 that's 13.5% or so. I'd probably go a bit further with Minifigures, throw in a custom Vader, A few stormtroopers and more imperials at least.

There's no way that thing is staying at its MSRP over the life of the product.

I'm not sure why, but the one on shelves now doesn't look quite right to me. Fake edit: having slept on it, I've cooled substantially on the ISD. I'm going to pass on it, for now at least. I know ucs sets rarely go on sale (the b-wing did at one point) but if the ISD does, I'm getting it then.

Counting down the minutes until I can go home since my Hudden Side haul was delivered today. I qualified for the bee brick head and the juice bar. I bought the bus and school to qualify. Tis the season for spooky lego.

My Lego store loves me and hooked me up with two Hidden Side Juice Bars, two Brickhead Bees and a left over present bonus from Christmas I guess. I did spend $300 though on poo poo so... To the goon that wanted a Juice Bar PM me or Ill find your name when I get home so I can send one over. Does anyone want a Bee?

Habibi posted:I interrupt this argument over a twenty+ year old sitcom to inform you that yesterday I introduced my son to the Voltron remake and he's in love. Kid's going to poo poo a brick in a few weeks when he finds out that he'll be helping me build the Lego model. Update: Built Voltron last weekend and it was a total blast. His shock when he pulled back the wrapping paper was palpable. The modular nature of the set made it a great team project. I built one of the leg lions and the black lion, which alone has I think more steps than the others combined, and he handled the others. The black lion has legs that are built separately, so when he finished the other lions and I was still on the black lion's body, I loaded the PDF instructions onto a tablet and let him work on those, separately. Anyway, I'm not even a particular fan of Voltron (I just like giant robots) and it's been one of my favorite builds to date. At least as satisfying as the UCS Y-Wing and as clever as the Saturn V. Everyone has their own favorite aspect of any given build, and I think the way the brick-built Voltron face pops down from the black lion's head. Beautiful. I've got parts coming this week to mod in leg articulation at the hips. Knees are going to be trickier. Highly recommended, especially if it goes on another 20+% off sale like back in July

Pick a brick had some really cool poo poo today. They had those little 1/4 circle tiles in a salmon color I've never seen before, the popcorn/ice cream pieces, a bunch of hot rod engines and exhausts and cool little foliage part I've never seen. Also silver racing wheels and tires. Pretty good haul.

Finished the Central Perk set while WoW was getting DDoSed. I love that they designed it as the filming set. The minifigs are all drat spot on with the actors as well. Highlight is definitely the coffee machine. So much pearl gold and so intricate looking once it's completed.
