Mooseykins posted:So if the wife is a US citizen, but the husband isn't, and they had kids why would the husband not be entitled to residency at some point? You don't just get granted residency, you have to apply and go through a whole process to get a green card, let alone citizenship. Getting married outside the US legally speaking also makes the process more complicated than if you get the marriage in the states.

I don't remember the specifics but it definitely was a big deal to have that one difference. I'd guess the guy in this story either never got a green card, or his expired or something. It's of course not at all beyond possibility that ICE ignored all of that because they are evil pieces of poo poo to the core, but if it that were the case I'd imagine his post would be more focused on legal action against them rather than the wife. Neither situation changes the wife also being a piece of poo poo.

I'm also talking from the situation me and my foreign wife went through, which we thankfully mostly completed during the Obama years. So for all I know Trump has changed the whole process to a literal paper bag test. My wife still doesn't have citizenship yet though so I wonder what splendor awaits us.

AITA for telling my girlfriend she looked like an escort? I [32M] have been dating this amazing woman [24F] for just under a year. I know there is a bit of an age difference, but that hasn't been a problem for us yet. Last week was my birthday and we decided to go out together for dinner at a steakhouse (my favorite food is steak). This wasn't an upscale Steakhouse like a Mastro's - think more along the lines of a casual franchise chain steakhouse. The plan was to meet there after I got off work. I had worked a 10 hour day and was still in work clothes - jeans and button down shirt. My girlfriend wanted to look good for me, so she spent about 2-3 hours getting ready. She had her hair done, full makeup, tight black dress, heels, the whole nine yards. I get where she is coming from, she wanted to surprise me and look like a bombshell. But the entire evening I felt very uncomfortable. The way I was dressed and the way she was dressed, I noticed other people were giving us looks. Probably because it looked like I was with a hired escort. I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed the entire dinner. I didn't say anything that night, but a few days later when I saw my girlfriend next I told her. I said she made me feel very uncomfortable and that she made me feel like I had an escort with me. I didn't tell her this to try and hurt her feelings - I told her because I needed to be honest and upfront, and because I didn't want her doing it again. I told her that there are 1,000 reasons I love her and that her looks are only 1 of them, she has much more to offer than just that. She has been very upset the last few days and I don't think this is going to be one of those things that just blows over. AITA?

You gotta have the broke brains (likely pornography-induced) to have that be your first thought and not “drat, my SO is hot as poo poo, all these people are checking them out!” Or, you know, not even notice other people and enjoy your nice date dummy

You’re taught first thing to land safely, but if you’re getting dominated, you might but have time to get into a safe posture before getting driven into the mat. When it’s that unmatched, the dominator would probably have some sense how hard they could throw before the throwee wouldn’t be able to handle it, but is competition and you could be going 100% on the first throw attempt and end up overwhelming someone.

AITA for buying my bratty nephew store brand mac and cheesequote:My 9 year old nephew eats Kraft dinner constantly and its disgusting but my sister doesn't see anything wrong with it and since I was yelled at last time for simply bringing up he should be eating healthier food I shut my trap about it. Recently I was on my way over one day when she called me and asked if I could buy a box to bring since they're out. Whatever its only a buck so I stopped at walmart when I saw the Great Value brand and bought it instead because what's the difference? Well when he saw the box he threw an absolute tantrum screaming about how its "not the same". My sister punished him for it but yelled at me for "buying the wrong one" and I told her to buy that garbage her drat self next time. Later at dinner the Great Value mac and cheese was made for nephew and at one bite he started screaming how it "doesnt taste right" and my sister demanded I go and get the right kind. So I said I would, left and didnt come back. This morning I woke up to 20 texts about how Im a heartless rear end in a top hat and how "hes just a child" and other bullshit over mac and cheese, but now Im wondering if I should have just got the kraft junk to spare a headache

Definitely a picky eater in the making and demonstrates what I believe is usually true with kids that are otherwise neurotypical: the parents are too willing to compromise just to make the child stop crying so the child learns that they can just eat chicken tendies (or whatever) for every meal.

I'm willing to bet that if the kid hadn't seen the box, and mom hadn't made a big deal out of it being different he probably would have just eaten it without realising. Yeah there sometimes is a difference between brands but it's lovely boxed mac and cheese either way.

One of my roommates in college was a picky eater that would only eat pizza, grilled cheese, or French fries. Dude basically sweat grease. When we met his mom it all made sense, she would roll over for him on basically anything the second there was a hint of resistance.

It's not necessarily set in stone. I would literally (literally literally) not eat anything but mashed potatoes and gravy for more than a year when I was three. Then it was grilled ham and cheese. Any restaurant we went to had to have one of those. I apparently had incredible willpower. Wish I had saved some. Today I eat things that horrify my family, like sushi or poke. If you can name a culture I'll at least try the food. I'd really like to try horse steak and dairy cow steak. I'm working up the courage for lengua tacos. Still need to try scrapple next time I'm home.

there is definitely some part of picky eating that’s not down to parenting though; like I was always down to try any food, whereas my sister ate nothing but peach yogurt and fish sticks from 3-5, but then got over it and has no picky eating issues. so, idk
