There's no further "reason" required for this awkward photo. Pre sure it's this. Like, absolutely not saying it's not a thing (well, that they didn't try to make it a thing), but as lovely and awful as Morrison and (I assume) his wife are, I really think this is just an awkward timing caught on camera, rather than her deciding to take the opportunity with the mixed race royal family to broadcast their white supremacy agenda. And yeah, I get the whole "they hide in plain sight and use that absurdity as a cover", but equally, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

New Hope in China do over a billion birds a year now. I think there's a single South Korean plant that can do like 90,000,000 birds a year on its own too. Pretty impressive supply chain.

Thing is poo poo like that sounds insane until suddenly it's 2019 and it isn't. People were saying similar things about that WH aide who was doing it for the cameras during the Mueller clown show, and fairly, others were calling them crazy paranoids. Then she did it again, really obviously and with no other plausible explanation. And then the WH started making really obvious 1488 references and putting kids in cages. I think in this case it's probably a strange coincidence, but also this is the hellworld timeline where poo poo has thoroughly gone off the rails, and you shouldn't discount anything, particularly not with the Morrisons cosying up to the Trump's.

the only thing that could come of this is that a semi-prominent figure from the left will retweet it and the right wing media will have a field day that the greens are calling the pm's wife a white supremacist

The difference between the American ones and this is when the Americans did it they were either 1. People impersonating trump who does it or 2. Actual white supremacist meme lords so it’s believable. With Morrison and his wife - look I believe Morrison is a racist (I don’t know his wife but I’m assuming yes too) but much more in the vein of “except for the hard working ones!” Kinda guy. Like I don’t think he actually believes in a eugenics style white power / ethnostate thing. Think about the immigration stuff- they let asians in- the Chinese who have money and don’t cause trouble or get uppity!

I mean, if you let white supremacists dictate the terms of what an already existing hand gesture means then you're giving them a lot of power. If they started saying 'the signal of white power is to scratch your nose' and you accept it as true and try to look out for it, then literally everyone is signalling a call for white power multiple times a day, and even in their sleep. The kind of white supremacist who would use that signal is already pretty open about their political beliefs anyway.

So we're agreed then - the wife of the white supremacist prime minister probably didn't drop a popular white supremacist signal that nobody has used frequently in its original context since the 1980s on purpose. Glad we cleared that up!

Also your example is bad, scratching your nose is an action with a purpose hence why people do it in their sleep. I'm sceptical that the gesture was intentional here but the "we must not surrender the ok symbol to white supremacists" argument and its derivations are always bad. Your need to use the ok symbol is far outweighed by the need of the victims of white supremacy to recognise and call it out. White supremacists chose it specifically because people like you would defend it and them by extension. The innocuousness is the entire point.

just a big hearty all inclusive all encompassing belly lol that really makes you feel good and makes everyone want to join in, laughing and laughing and laughing if you think anything you do is objectively rational, or that the tenant of rationality in fact is anything more than a convenient heuristic to describe a person that is acting in a way you cannot understand or comprehend and ultimately a shortcoming in your own perceptiveness.
