Holy poo poo I am bad at editing. Anyway I've been a line cook for about a month after working my way up from dishwasher. By all accounts I'm doing well, but I wish I sucked less at communicating with other human beings.

But that's just about floor space (which should be easy in Oklahoma because there's plenty of space). All of the top 10 largest casinos in the USA are probably the only casinos in their area. Yes, the WinStar in Thackerville, OK has 600,000 square feet of gaming space. Yes, that's more than any single casino in Vegas. But the top four in Vegas combined are hilariously close to 666,000 square feet of gaming space and there are a hell of a lot more than four casinos in Las Vegas. 21 casinos with over 100,000 square feet of casino space makes a difference in this calculus stringless fucked around with this message at 17:02 on Oct 7, 2019 |

Oklahoma gaming is serious business. They are becoming more common than churches here. And there are at least 3 churches within a half a mile of my house.

This wine distributor is really dick hard about getting our business, but the owner is super flaky, and I find myself being invited to fancy luncheons to meet wine makers etc, and I think I'm going to keep going anyways, possibly to make friends enough to get hired by them instead, is this bad?

Go for it. You have to look out for yourself, and working distribution is generally a much cushier job. There was another goon who did that years ago, I think it was bloody ghost titty? One of the thread regulars, though I haven't seen him post in awhile - if my memory serves, he was much happier, making better money, working better hours and always had a massive stash of wine at home to boot.

We catered a wedding last night at a fancy craft brewery and holy gently caress I wish I could get a toe in the door in brewery science (I have a micro and chemistry degree, so I’ve been trying like hell). I only had a quick second to chat with one of the brewing folks but he loves his job and gets to do all sorts of traveling, conferences and education. Unfortunately, that was cut short by hundreds of drunken wedding guests. The entire wedding party of 20 also decided to kindly come in to the restaurant for Sunday brunch today too without warning and without leaving a tip, so that was cool.

No, we don’t autograt. We aren’t exactly a 5 star sit down restaurant. Our main business is homestyle casseroles and hot dogs to go, we don’t often get more than a group of 4 coming in to sit down. Sunday brunch is usually when we get the most sit down business and we still get stiffed a lot. I think some it is because we do order at the counter, then serve at the table. Folks tend to forget when there’s no check at the end of the meal, although we have square, so the option is definitely there when you run your card.
