Stuff like "what happens if you're fighting the enemy and they get a spy into your plane?" I just responded with "that's, uhh, not a thing that happens," but it occurred to me that they're probably getting that stuff from video game mechanics. That's just how kids understand the military these days. At Red Flag, there's actually a branch of the aggressors whose job it is to show you how bad you are at OPSEC. At the end of the exercise they'll take a few minutes of the debrief to show all the poo poo they collected just from people being careless. It's rather disturbing at times, but once in a while they'll say "Yeah you guys were pretty good, we didn't really get anything valuable." And other times, their opening slide is literally a photograph of two of them sitting in the pilot and copilot seat of your airplane.

While ugly, that's a pretty common sight in secured conference rooms. Green/Red/Yellow cables all over the place for laptop hookups and don't you loving dare put the wrong one in.

It seems like a good way to get people to actually follow badge checks and physical security practices. If you've got Opfor on a boat in the middle of the ocean, though, you've either hosed something up spectacularly or they're really, really good swimmers.

It’s fascinating to hear stories from InfoSec penetration tests at corporations. The red teams will wear fake pregnancy bellies to get people to hold doors, steal RFID scans, and throughly scan social media for badge images to replicate. At my MegaCorp we fail those tests every time. The main entrance has turnstiles requiring badge scans, an attended desk, and cameras. Except every drat building has a side door only requiring a badge swipe with constant tailgating, so occasionally vagrants are spotted wandering the halls.

It's as if the writers focus on the former and the editors address the latter. It wouldn't have been out of place at all in the game to correctly attribute the Highway of Death to Coalition forces - in fact, it would only underline the story they were already trying to to tell.

Baghdadi probably became exposed in the midst of all this, and he was able to be got got. This is just my theory. Is that the problem people had with No Russian? I thought it was more about depicting the wholesale slaughter of innocents, which in No Russian was fairly video-gamey but in Piccadilly was clearly crafted after a lot of research on videos of terrorist shootings and the gory aftermath. You can tell they paid a lot more attention to making photo-realistic recreations of the dead bodies.
