FPTP is great for sharp, punchy TV, with quick results, but when it comes to drama and interaction PR:STV can't be beat. I'm not totally sure but I think it's something to do with the resulting date for parliament to be dissolved, where the 12th gives Boris a window somewhere to have another go at pushing his deal through, whereas the 9th doesn't give him enough time to do anything.
