I beat the first palace, went to momentos, just got the anime scene about the art student character.. what’s considered where the game starts to pick up? I pass through a lot of repetitive dialogue (WHAT DID YOU SAY???) and see to do the same actions which never seem to increase my stats. Is there some time when the game play or story or setting comes into its own?

TBH I'd probably buy it if it didn't railroad you to the new stuff with Maruki And Friends. The new boss mechanics and hangout spots look interesting enough.
