Our society is really hosed up, and if you pay attention there are stories of how people are dying from being poor every day. And people sense that. And they want an explanation. And "those people, those others are doing it" is a very easy satisfying explanation. Especially if you're stupid, ignorant, incurious, a bigot, a racist etc..

Fox News is currently debating this and trying to figure out the democrats’ impeachment message. We can save them a lot of time. Basically, they’re trying to impeach him for his mission of draining the swamp and re-stating our foreign policy placing American interests first. This is obviously a grave threat to the CIA, FBI, DOJ, State Dept, the Pentagon, the military/industrial complex, the democrats, the establishment, the media, etc., etc., etc. and they won’t go down easily.

This is fundamental to the difference between the two sides. To Dem supporters, the swamp is lobbyists, the bribes, money, backscratching, revolving door between the boardroom and government, etc. To Trump supporters, the swamp is whoever they perceive as against them. Career public servants, Romney, Ryan, the Bushes, the entire Dem party except maybe Tulsi, etc. They view it as a political thing where anyone insufficiently reactionary is a swamp creature that Trump went to DC to slay, and drat anything that gets in the way.

I agree, but I will say it is much less expensive and often less dangerous to keep those little potheads and crack addicts in prison.
Watch any show like Cops or Live PD and you will see a parade of these ex-cons with an ounce of weed, no license, no registration suddenly run from cops and wind up crashing several vehicles. Then add in ambulance costs, court costs to put them back in prison every 2 or 3 years.
And that doesn’t count the cost of all the smash and grab crimes they commit, or assaults and vandalism they engage in while high and out of control.
Prohibitions don’t work. I would rather see them treated then prisoned. But it is usually a lot cheaper to lock them up than to let them commit dozens of damaging crimes every year to support their expensive habits, let alone risking the public’s safety.
Criminals are expensive in the wild. Even non-violent criminals.

________________________________________________
I should think you know that’s not the real story.
Dopers are criminals. And often they are holding while committing far more serious crimes like rape, robbery or murder. Because too much time, money and effort is spent by prosecuting those crimes, it is easier and more effective to let them plead down to the possession charges. They go to jail. Criminals are off the streets. Everybody wins.
So. To complain that our jails are filled with drug users who are only serving time for possession is incorrect.

After I showed up and told the victim to get her things together to leave, one of the would-be assassins tried to get behind me to do the stabbing. But apparently, he may have felt that he couldn’t position himself well enough to carry it out.
I’m not putting up with it any more. Here are the obvious options for policy.
* Show us that war on drugs that we were promised. There’s been no war on drugs.
* Go ahead. Let them out of the hoosegows for increasingly more private residents to deal with when attacked. It appears that this is the way that policy is going so far.
* Disarm private residents with gun control and policies against self-defense, but know that mobs like those of the 1930s and before will follow. Law abiding people are pretty near fed up. This would be my favorite choice. Make my day.

Beshear’s margin of victory is ~4600 votes. Out of nearly 1.45 million votes cast.
A look at the NYT county map Beshear clobbered Bevin in the 3 counties with the 3 largest cities in the state. In the counties with these 3 large cities in them Bevin was stomped so badly it is astonishing.
That said, Bevin for whatever reason is highly unpopular.
He was ranked as one of the MOST unpopular governors in the country. Not up on Kentucky politics so I don’t know why.
That this race was this competitive is likely solely due to President Trumps visit to the state.

They fix them using the state’s most populous county, King County. The King County elections office was revealed to be fixing the elections in a 2004 court case but the Democrat judge ruled that although the county elections office was shown to be fixing the elections, enough to flip election results, there wasn’t any means of proving in which the direction election was fixed. What a JOKE!
BUT ... in WA State, not only is the governor election fixed, so are its two US Senators.
It begs the question how democrats in KY are able to fix a governor’s race but not other races. It may be that KY is not yet as corrupt as WA State, not having yet perfected the crime of vote fraud.

Special congratulations to the libertarian candidate who stole seven times the margin of loss from the Republican.
Libertarians need a stern talking to for 2020.

Bevin had a 30% approval rate. He ticked off the teachers by trying to fix their pension problems the dems have created the last 75 years.
Also Beshear was the Atty General during Bevins term and did to Bevin what the dems are doing to Trump. Endless investigations, thwarting everything in court.
Republicans crushed the other 7 statewide races by 100-300k. Bevins lost by 6k. Honestly surprised its that close. Beshear was up 10-15 points most of the year. Bevins closed late due to the impeachment stuff in Washington and support from Trump and Pence.
KY is a firmly red state. Bevins was an anolomy. Trump will win KY easily and Amy McGrath will not beat McConnell.

Yep! I drive a rig all up and down the east coast and some west, New York to Maine, Virginia, Carolinas, Kentucky, Tennessee and I ALWAYS see pro-Republican signs on peoples lawns RARELY see pro Democrat, yet Democrats win? BullSHT they win! The most obvious to me was Massachusetts in the 2016 election. They had me drives all over that state and the pro Trump signs out there were insane, all over the place everywhere. Yet Hillary won the state? Bullsht she won!

I know Freepers are delusional by nature, but thinking Massachusetts is a red state is just a whole new level.

Don't forget the war on drugs, they are pretty mad about all of the low level drug offenders released in Oklahoma...which at any one time has 1 out of 100 citizens incarcerated.
Sounds like something similar is going to happen in KY, Bashear said something about returning the right to vote to lots of people, I think he said over 100,000.
Commuting sentences/pardoning is finally getting some love from Dem governors, one of Mcauliffe's few good moves was restoring the right to vote to tons of Virginians. He did it even after the courts ruled he couldn't do it with a single order but had to actually do them one at a time.
