I once read some memoirs by this Jewish dude from Chicago who accidentally became the leading specialist in Tribal law in the country after he got an acquital for the son of a Washington state Tribe President in private practice. Like half the book is spent railing against sporting groups and recreational fisherman because most of the treaties deal very largely with the tribes getting certain hunting grounds or first dibs on certain species of fish and they would always be the group most likely to organize against treaty rights. He did a case for an Ojibwe band that wanted to expand their rez or get it recignized or something and it became a huge statewide thing because it would have included a single lake the fishers didn't want to give up.
