Any of you other Western WA goons play D&D? I played D&D in elementary school when my parents friend's teenage son would dungeon master for us kids and it was a ton of fun and I'd like to play again, 20 years later. Seeing all of the D&D memes pop up makes me want to get back into playing it again. I don't even know how to get started, most of my fellow combat arms buds aren't even remotely nerdy in any way. I want to embrace my inner nerd, play D&D and Warhammer again, etc. Especially now that I'll be a civilian again in a few months.

So I handed Tetris 99 over to my brother, who has not played it but is a noted boss at Tetris. Within an hour he had finished first, unlocked Invictus Mode AND THEN finished fifth in Invictus mode.

Sometimes it could just be miles and a drive, I knew folks who commuted 2 hours to get to Endzone. Meetup.com is a good flyer to see if you wanna get into games hosted at Panera Bread or whatever. If you just want 1 or 2 hours immersed in a nerd pit then check out your local college's game club. Hope that helps! It is accessable, moreso now than 15 years ago when I first dipped my toes in. Did a 10 year hiatus and I felt like Rip Van Winkle when I said to the store manager at Turn 0 "Tell me, what happened to HeroClix, does it still live?"

I used to have board game meetups at a local cafe where friends would meet and post open invitations on local Facebook groups and meetup. We’d play games there with randos and after a few times of seeing someone, if the strangers seemed socially well adjusted enough to invite to our house, we’d open the idea of them playing rpgs with us. That way we knew our group before we tried playing D&D. If you simply look for other people who also like D&D you have to weed through idiots and it’s a lot more disruptive to remove that anime loving neckbeard who refuses to use any other weapon than his samurai sword and tries to implement the Japanese code of Bushido by cutting down random peasants who don’t yield to his superior station in your decidedly not Asian themed fantasy campaign than it is to just not invite them.

Only as long as the DM says "fine, but nobody else speaks the language your character does." so everyone is very confused why this weird dude keeps slicing up random people, but he's really good at slicing up the bad people too so they keep him around anyway.
