yeah they could have just stuck to whatever arcane paperwork directly came out of the case and it would have gotten old quick. it also really helps that they are an entertaining pair of hosts

Assuming I even have the talent for the last one.
While my own focus is MENA/Central Asia, I wouldn't be adverse to doing stories from elsewhere, though thematically I'd probably keep Western Europe and Rome epidodes rare if I keep the podcast going.

do you have any knowledge or passion for the history and proliferation of Islamic art? I've always been fascinated by the form of it and would really like to know more about its evolution and the various styles within it

I've been kind of off-and-on interested in the Silk Road, if you've got any leads on stories about its development or cultures existing along it, stuff that isn't just Marco Polo or exotic artifacts found at the endpoints.

I already had some episodes scoped out as one of the personal passions. Kashgari is minor pet peeve because for the longest time the only poem of his available was the one about making GBS threads on Buddha (to be fair he really hated Buddhists so it's not necessarily unrepresentative).

A cool topic, but Kocek's weren't necessarily a gender expression. More like a mix between drag, pederasty, and european castrati. I saw a modern version of them during a new year party with a bunch of marxist school teachers in Istanbul, who were all thankfully 18+. Gave one a 100 lira bill by drunkenly transfering it into their mouth from mine which went over well with that crowd (male bisexuality occupies a weird place in Turkish sexual culture).

The more scientific and enlightened muslim medicine is a topic I haven't read up on too much. HOWEVER! For a certain period of time central asian Khans found it fashionable to double as medical practitioners and surgeons. Many wrote on some... interesting practices. I'd almost forgotten about it until this question, so thankya.

If this works out this will probably the heaviest focus of the podcast.

gladio sounds not as weird as i was expecting it to be. it sounds like a pretty standard thing that a powerful nation would do to cement its influence in countries it's aligned with

I think it's more that it really just sounds like other things we know about the CIA getting up to. Like, how big of a surprise is it that they were selling drugs at this point?

I'd love to hear more about the general history of Jabal al-Druze and/or the Maronite-Druze conflicts of the mid 1800s. Either that or something on Turkey, like how alevism fits into the turkish cultural mosaic, the political violence of 1976-1980 or the emergence of Anadolu Rock

No, tonight was about Warren's M4A plan change and how smart it was. When challenged on how it is actually bad that she is compromising before the fight has even begun he got totally not mad before deleting the thread.
