It works better in the play because the actors are supposed to be cats but they wear clothing and makeup to achieve that effect. In the movie they're just a bunch of weird nude bipedal cats.

Setting aside that it seems to change from set to set, a bunch of those shots imply these are extra tiny cats, cockroach size? There’s no way they should be THAT tiny relative to everything else!

Does anyone else find the real life glitching stuff actually really creepy looking? I've always found it creepy in games when that kind of thing happens and your skelton jumps about or whatever. I bet if a horror film when the full way with something like that it could be terrifying.

My guess is that it's doing a "I couldn't heal them, but they healed me" narrative. Which would make sense for how schmaltzy the trailer looks.

I love all the actors in it individually, but as a cast/story it just reeks of White Dudes Being Important.

Per wikipedia, quote:Rokeach added a comment in the final revision of the book that, while the experiment did not cure any of the three Christs, "It did cure me of my godlike delusion that I could manipulate them out of their beliefs." Hit the nail right on the head and into the cross.

Also from Wikipedia:quote:Rokeach came to think that his research had been manipulative and unethical, and he offered an apology in the afterword of the 1984 edition of the book: "I really had no right, even in the name of science, to play God and interfere round the clock with their daily lives." Yikes. Hell of a thing to make a movie out of.

I'm just sorta confused. I always enjoyed how close to reality The Stanford Prison Experiment was, then it came out the whole thing was a sham so in turn it made the film completely inaccurate in hindsight. Filmmakers I'm sure were completely unaware of this (and it's still a super good watch).

Given a lot of what we know of MK Ultra at this point, and the close relationship between DOD and certain universities (specifically stanford), I don't think it's really fair to call it a complete sham.

Eh, enough people involved have essentially come forward over the years and admitted they were told how to act and nobody who ever repeated the experiment ever got the same results. Dude went in knowing what he wanted out of it and made sure it happened. It’s a cool story nonetheless, and it definitely feels like something that could happen.

I've read the dude's responses to the allegations of falsification or direction and he seems very adamant that some of this stuff is being purposefully highlighted to discredit efforts to examine institutional abuse (eg Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo) and its causes. I don't really have a dog in this, but it's interesting nonetheless considering he was the one who actually made all the documentation of his processes in the demonstration available via archive. Anyways, it's all pretty weird.

A prequel seems like such a weird follow-up to Endgame. I guess Spider-Man 2 3 was the follow-up, but this feels like an odd choice to kick off the next segment or phase or whatever.
