Had Julian Huppert come canvassing for the new Lib Dem candidate. It was kind of embarrassing to basically go "no I can't vote for the Lib Dems and it's your fault." But on the other hand, it was kind of a relief to be able to do so.

I hope it'll lift the thread's spirits a bit to know my mum's voting Labour. She's not a fan of Corbyn but she loving hated the Tories and wants something to change, although she's pessimistic about it. The stuff I've picked up from the thread and the discord has definitely helped me when talking to her about stuff like this, so thank you very much and keep fighting, comrades.

lol, reminds me attending group therapy some years back and bringing up financial difficulties ('cause, surprise, they're not very conducive to a healthy state of mind) at one point; our (very middle-class, same as the rest of that group) counselor, after an awkward pause, tried recommending some budgeting apps. I had to explain I was actually pretty good at managing money when I had it; it's more the earning enough money to be able to afford a luxury of budgeting beyond "Rent, transport, then hope you have enough left over to feed yourself" that was the problem. Still remember everyone looking at me kinda uncomprehendingly. That year I ended up having a tooth removed b/c I had a root canal infection that I couldn't afford getting fixed, then going to work on the same day b/c I couldn't afford missing it. Spent the entire shift (was working in a pub at the time) trying to speak as little as possible due to the prospect of spewing blood every time I opened my mouth.
