Nazzadan posted:Dissonant bm, an adjective not a genre. Think the entire Icelandic scene and DSO This strikes me as redundant. Like what BM band isn't dissonant? Unless they're something else with some BM as seasoning. It's like all tri-tones. Edit: Also, BM/Bowel Movement never gets old to me.

Dissonant as a genre tag is just getting my goat. drat kids further splitting hairs. They're gonna start making sure we know Slayer is dissonant thrash or some dumb thing.

Keys of Orthanc are sick, I got their new one on tape and the art is so over the top silly on a j card and the labels look so cheesy I love it.

I have basically a walkman that can rip to my PC, it sounds perfectly fine and has the added benifit of letting me get digital copies of kvlt poo poo tryhards refuse to put out digitally. It definitely doesn't sound as good as a record, CD or 320kb/s file but most of what I get on tape doesn't necessarily need to. But then I go and buy dumb poo poo like Carnifex's latest EP on tape which was entirely pointless other than tossing the band 5 bucks at a show and it definitely doesn't sound as good on physical. On that note, I'd like to get a full deck at some point so I can listen to it off a system easier than plugging in my handheld to the aux port.

Full decks are the best but it can be soooo frustrating finding a good one that works well since unlike turntables companies haven't started making decent ones again. I would normally say just find one at a thriftstore but the first deck I bought like that worked okay for a week then mangled a kind of hard to replace tape.

I got really spoiled living in super cheap upstate New York since there was this super cool old dude who ran an electronics repair shop who would fix decks for like 10-20 bucks. Now that I'm back in a city repair shops want at least 80 to even look at a deck it seems. The other option is learning to do basic repair and maintenance yourself since the things most likely to go first on a deck are apparently not super difficult to fix.
