So was there a good reason Corbyn was so unpopular? Everything I saw of him made him look like a decent, respectable guy. When I'd watch those legislating sections, most people and the Tories in particular seemed like hooting idiotic children, but he seemed pretty okay. But apparently the brits hated him. Was it just the media? Do I fundamentally not understand the british character?

I hate this feeling. Not the feeling that comes with a crushing loss. The feeling that part of me hopes everyone who voted for this suffers under the Conservative government. That one day soon they might loving understand what they've done to themselves and their loved ones.

Media pumped that he is a terrorist sympathizer, muslim lover (muslims being all terrorists obviously ) also bollox about him wanting to cut the military and stuff. I don't actually think the anti-semitism stuff would make much impact on many voters. A lot of people don't even know what it is. And sadly, people believe and like Boris Johnson despite him being a horrendous liar. But yeah, brexit. Oh and also Express and Mail putting out actual lies about Labour stealing their houses and so on.

Everytime I think my shithole town might maybe- MAYBE vote not to further gently caress itself into poverty, it's always a nice reminder that Cornwall hates brown people more than anything else, so we can all sit back and enjoy the mines abandoned for 3 decades cuz theres no jobs.

The issue is that the pervasion of capitalism into all aspects of our life comes with the destruction of ever more of the functioning left space, because it again is outdone in ease of access by capitalist alternatives. You don't debate things, you consume opinion pieces, you don't create together, you purchase things mass produced, you don't work together, you exist as a perfectly isolated gig worker connected to an app. Social media is... a bit of a divergence but at this point I am concerned that with some tweaks it can be made far more isolating and solipsistic.
