from tomorrow we take all the energy that went into this election and we throw it into parallel structures, so that at least some of the marginalised might survive what's coming. homeless outreach, foodbanks, anti-racism, supporting anyone who gets thrown off benefits and has nothing else to live on. wildcat strikes any time the tory fuckers give us the slightest excuse. if we have to build a better society ourselves, with our own hands and sweat and blood, let's loving do it and show that out here at least someone still cares.

we also can't rely on the media to create an informed and engaged public, and we can't reorient everyone's perspective and understanding on the doorstep when it contradicts what they've been hearing day in day out. so we need to be present throughout society. make real leftism a lived experience for people, instead of an unfamiliar counternarrative that seems to pop up when there's an election

also wouldn't hurt to have some kind of XR for protesting tories at every opportunity (in terms of effectiveness and attention anyway)

So was there a good reason Corbyn was so unpopular? Everything I saw of him made him look like a decent, respectable guy. When I'd watch those legislating sections, most people and the Tories in particular seemed like hooting idiotic children, but he seemed pretty okay.

But apparently the brits hated him. Was it just the media? Do I fundamentally not understand the british character?

People everywhere love angry authoritarian strongmen types who "tell it like it is" (blatantly lie). Its not a uniquely British trait.

Media pumped that he is a terrorist sympathizer, muslim lover (muslims being all terrorists obviously ) also bollox about him wanting to cut the military and stuff.

I don't actually think the anti-semitism stuff would make much impact on many voters. A lot of people don't even know what it is.

And sadly, people believe and like Boris Johnson despite him being a horrendous liar.

But yeah, brexit.

Oh and also Express and Mail putting out actual lies about Labour stealing their houses and so on.

The issue is that the pervasion of capitalism into all aspects of our life comes with the destruction of ever more of the functioning left space, because it again is outdone in ease of access by capitalist alternatives. You don't debate things, you consume opinion pieces, you don't create together, you purchase things mass produced, you don't work together, you exist as a perfectly isolated gig worker connected to an app.

Social media is... a bit of a divergence but at this point I am concerned that with some tweaks it can be made far more isolating and solipsistic.

Hes Old Labour. The old cunts that turn out in their droves to vote every election hate that. They'd vote for Jimmy Saville over him because at least he was someone they liked on TV when they were younger.
