COLISION PROBLEMS (TELEPORTATION) WITH DEAD PLAYERS [/quote] I always love how the reaction on Reddit and Spectrum is never “why does the game have the same horrible bugs and jank after 8 years?”, instead it’s always “oh CIG you lovable scamps here’s more money!”.

Some guy on the BBC Click program posted:Star Citizen is important because it's a Chris Roberts game. Chris Roberts started out with the Wing Commander franchise in the 90's [...] so much he's the George Lucas of space games Is that meant to be a compliment, considering the original Star Wars film was saved in the editing room by people other than George Lucas and then the subsequent two films weren't even directed by him? Or is it just hyperbole by someone who knows nothing about what he's talking about? The world may never know.

Beet Wagon posted:I wont fully believe it's the end until after it happens, what with CIG somehow continuing to jump the General Lee over increasingly wide gorges every year since 2012. But yeah it definitely does seem like a much more pessimistic year than usual. Yeah, and yet but for the Calders, they’d be downsized like crazy by now. Given all the other signals, it feels like they downsized anyway. The BBC piece said absolutely nothing that they hadn’t already said in longer form years ago, even while they all but pretended they hadn’t already covered the story in greater depth before. The real mystery then is “what prompted this?” A piece like this started with phone calls between friendlies. It’s sure not because “can you believe people pay $7000 for spaceships?” because that story was old in 2015.

The only thing noteworthy is that they featured Rex as the paradigmatic whale, which he’s anything but. The old guard streamers would’ve surely appreciated the free publicity, but CIG gave it to the one streamer they paid to fly overseas and comped room and board for. Might as well get their money’s worth out if it, I guess.

Pixelate posted:At least there was a dev explanation for that train that teleported into orbit. Collision with surprise ship physics grid meant it adopted a position relative to it. I wonder if it might be related to the teleport-train. Maybe when teabagee respawned teabager's location got mapped to the physics grid where teabagee respawned? Actually, given how stupidly SC has been done and how weirdly glitchy weapons, attachments, and body parts act, maybe players are their own physics grid. Also god drat that video was cringy.

It won't be nearly this dangerous once punch-subsumption, server-side-punch-streaming, and punch-armor have been implemented. Right now they're just putting the pieces in without any thought towards game design, as you typically do when building giant projects. They'll swing back and balance it later, won't take more than a day. Wait, punching is free and it can hurt my 300 dollar spaceship? CHRIS CHRIS FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY
