Oozing machismo
I guess it is a thrashy kinda monday.

https://varnok.bandcamp.com/ - American thrash metal in the old style, not so much fancy technicality just riffs and angry vocals.

https://myfuneral.bandcamp.com/album/graveblaster - Graveblaster is finnish thrash metal. Lots of good shouty vocals here. Guess it is sort of crossover thrash?

Yes.
I was looking through some stuff I've saved on Spotify earlier in the year but not listened to much, and man I dunno how I slept on this album. I mean I listened to it a couple times and was like "Yup this is good" but then got distracted by whatever else.

Great thrashy USPM, and I just love the vocal style where the dude is more like PROCLAIMING rather than actually singing. He's got some loving conviction.

OK, so I still have some 2019 stuff to re-listen to before finalizing my year-end list and my decade honorable mentions but I think I've settled on a top 50 for the 2010s. Just over half of them are metal, so here are my top 26 metal (including some -core stuff) albums of the decade:

3. Sleep - The Sciences
4. Full of Hell - Weeping Choir
5. Chthe'ilist - Le Dernier Crepuscule
6. Immolation - Majesty and Decay
7. Pig Destroyer - Book Burner
8. Vektor - Terminal Redux
9. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
10. Gorguts - Colored Sands
11. Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Mariner
12. The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us Is the Killer
13. Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse
14. Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I
15. Tomb Mold - Manor of Infinite Forms
16. Sonne Adam - Transformation
17. Sigh - Scenes From Hell
18. Apostate Viaticum - Before the Gates of Gomorrah
19. Inter Arma - Sulphur English

I personally enjoy Baneblade but Sankara are much better in the same niche and might be more the speed of folks that don't like the former.

Unrelated but Etheraldine dropped a new album today, pretty good Iranian blackgaze.

I know some users don't like list posting because it kinda makes the thread a wall of white noise so I'll keep my decade list a nice brief 9 albums I gave perfect scores to in the last 10 years including non-metal.

Marina & the Diamonds - The Family Jewels (2010)
Conqueror - War.Cult.Supremacy (2011)
Marina and the Diamonds - Electra Heart (2012)
Longmont Potion Castle - 9 (2012)
Rise of the Northstar - Demonstrating My Saiya Style (2012)
TrenchRot - Necronomic Warfare (2014)
Twilight Force - Tales of Ancient Prophecies (2014)
Rise of the Northstar - Welcame (2014)
Bloodbound - Rise of the Dragon Empire (2019)

Strange to look at considering I listen to at least twice as much black metal as any other genre but only gave 1 bm related comp a 5. My 4.5s are absolutely full of bm, tho.

Edit: Huh, apparently my decade's worth of 4.5s and 5s would fit on a 100 image collage. Maybe I'll make one and post it later.

Ah, time for AOTY lists? I'll throw down my top ten:

- Apoptosis - Allegaeon
- Burn the Night - Riot City
- Death Atlas - Cattle Decapitation
- Misconception - Critical Defiance
- Obscene Majesty - Devourment
- Rare Field Ceiling - Yellow Eyes
- Songs for the Firing Squad - SeeYouSpaceCowboy
- Sulfur English - Inter Arma
- The Valley - Whitechapel
- Wretched Illusions - Creeping Death

...And I can't choose a single AOTD, so it's among Monolith of Inhumanity, Exercises in Futility, or Terminal Redux. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Love the guitars here. The highs stay crunchy and out of that "wee-oo" space. And there's a bass! Love that. I'm digging this a lot. Progressions/breakdowns are reminding me a lot of Death/Chuck's guitar parts.

Edit: Whoah track 2 is all power metal. Weird, but very cool.

DOUBLE EDIT: WHOOOOAH 34:00 minutes in riiiiiiiips. This might be a new favorite album. They hop metal genres so well.
