A bellweather: Kendra Horn has stated she's pro-impeachment. She's the rep who got elected in a Trump+14 district in Oklahoma.

The "Let's decide this via election, not impeachment" argument is pretty maddening here. That is, usually that argument has some weight when the president is facing a crisis, not when the president is the crisis.

eviltastic posted:A bellweather: from the Van Drew party switch we've learned that Democrat leadership was telling him, flat-out, "we will endorse someone against you in a primary if you do not vote yes" i strongly suspect similar hardball is going on elsewhere. it's just Van Drew is particularly stupid and, when faced with two bad options, picked by far the worse one -- everyone else understands that, even if you flip parties, voters aren't going to support you over whatever Republican is already running in your district

Not sure if this actually changes the Senate calculus, but this could push Trump back in the direction of the circus he wanted. This could change this, it could not. We'll have to see if Trump changes his tune.

Just loving if the GOP overplayed their hand and gets heat for not calling witnesses that would def exhonerate trump and totally not result in more crimes.

I hope Dems are thinking of ways to further goad Trump into pushing for a showy, extended trial.

Just catching up, but has anybody mentioned how rad the hathead of the dem guy in the rules committee hearings is? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hx7jlZqwUo (Not to take away from how good of a job he's doing, though, it's pretty solid.)

Yeah if he was the sort to inspire that kind of personal loyalty from rando staffers, he probably wouldn't need to be quite so worried about a primary challenge.
