Also grassroots so we don't have to pay people. No, that's just an example of the pattern recognition that basically every person comes pre-equipped with working as intended

If it wasnt for troops we'd all be speaking Taliban on this day - what would now be Mohammadmas and under the tree? That's right one big box of sharia law.

I guess they're both half-right, since slavery was the most intensely divisive issue the founding fathers had, which is why they deferred it for a hundred years, and it's especially relevant since all of those hundred years of compromises only managed to further entrench slavery, despite all the people who acknowledged that it should end eventually. I don't know why it'd behoove a very moderate candidate to push the idea that everybody was wrong in the past but they just gradually got better with the progression of time without any hard work to destroy the opposition and actually change things, or why a very terrible person would want to push the idea that everything was good in the past and didn't need any changing at all.

Well here we go, Austin PD just confirmed the guy who assaulted a random person then stabbed a Freebirds' employee to death on Friday was a homeless person. Abbott of course didn't wait for them to confirm but he's going to go all in on homeless-bashing now.

I mean, if you accuse every person in Austin who commits a crime or disrupts the peace of being homeless, eventually you'll get a few cases. No one will remember or care that the others were inaccurate.

zoux posted:https://twitter.com/jsmccullou/status/1213125980711215105 I work in the legal field. Prosecutions were basically put on hiatus to see what pending legislation got passed. The decrim bill (that Dan Patrick killed after passing the house 2-1) would have basically stopped any prosecution for a Class B weed charge in all but the most redass of counties. People didn't even realize what happened with the hemp bill until after it was already passed. It wasn't even hardly on the radar. I wouldn't say it's a convenient excuse to stop prosecuting. Any DA that was inclined to implement some kind of policy on not prosecuting weed cases already had. For everyone else it's that there genuinely isn't the capability to test these cases in state labs and hiring a private lab is prohibitively expensive when you consider just how many marijuana charges come through. Anyways, loving legalize it already.
