Also I'm fairly sure certain pornographies would do that.

think of everything that involved Poe's old crew or whatever? there was kind of a lot of poo poo in several sequences there to introduce / justify them and it seemed mostly just there to say Poe is definitely Not Gay

Finn also had a whole new love? interest added in for him even though he already had one and barely has scenes in this movie anyway.

A great testament to how good these movies are is that I saw the first two from start to finish and I passively absorbed a whole bunch of nerds talking about them and I have no idea which one Poe is and which one Finn is. I can't remember the name of the bad guy. The human one or the big headed one.

I liked how Kylo threw away his saber and then immediately gets himself into a situation where he needs a saber. If Rey was busy he wouldve died to his own boy band lol

Disney execs literally had a meeting where they discussed whether the audience would understand that he turned sides while still wielding a red sabre that went “No... no they wont.”

The worst thing about Valerian is that all the best scenes are clustered at the start and it’s all downhill after like, the 25 minute mark

The first hour is very good and then it decides to stop moving forward to explain the plot and never regains its momentum. It is nevertheless an excellent Star War chock full of classic sci-fi and coming of age tale stuff.

Has a lot in common with AotC right down to the most common criticism being that the male lead (a horny young idiot who thinks he's cool and smart) didn't seem cool and smart enough.

When I first saw TLJ, there was that moment where Rey was about to join with Kylo. This was the best moment of that film, and I think if they had the balls to have her join with him, it would have saved that movie. It would have truly been "subverting expectations". Rey would have made a great villain who continued being tempted by the dark side (through her connection with Palpatine) and then in this film it would have been Kylo who saved her from the dark side. This would have made these movies a lot better ... but I'm not sure it's enough to make it a great trilogy.

The root of the problem goes all the way back to The Force Awakens. What I hated most, wasn't so much that it was a total rehash of ANH, it was how everything the good guys accomplished in the original trilogy was undone. The First Order had risen again and was now more powerful than even the empire was. The "New Republic" was in ashes and was reduced to an even weaker rebellion than they had before. As much as it tried to honor the OT, it took a poo poo on it.

The Empire was basically the Third Reich in space. Like the nazis, they lost the war and any group that tries to revive them would be viewed the same way neo nazi groups are viewed today. Neo nazis are a joke now and it is highly unlikely that a fascist group waving nazi flags would rise to power ever again. BUT, it is a lot more likely that a different group could unknowingly become just as fascist even while claiming that they are fighting fascism.

Perhaps what they should have done is instead of a First Order, have a separatist faction of the New Republic split off because they felt it was becoming just as totalitarian as the Empire was. Meanwhile, the New Republic sees the separatists as fascist and under control of a Palpatine like force that is misleading them. Both sides see each other as evil and under control of the dark side, and perhaps it turns out both are correct (Palpatine is leading both sides to war with each other behind the scenes, like he did in the prequels). It would have been more similar to the prequels in this regard, yes, but the one good thing about the prequels was that the overall story arch and themes were very good, original, and an excellent allegory to what is going on today even if the execution was kind of lovely. They would have retold a story that needed to be retold in an improved way, not one that was already done to near perfection.

Disney would never do this lol

Lucas got to do something “against the empire” in the 70’s when he was rebellious and cinema had a lot of experimental auteurs pushing new stuff

By the 90’s he had gone all “maybe politics isn’t as clear cut, Jedi aren’t perfect”

And now Disney is all like “is an empire really a bad thing? Maybe you are actually part of the empire”

The basic advantage of the median in describing data compared to the mean (often simply described as the "average") is that it is not skewed so much by a small proportion of extremely large or small values, and so it may give a better idea of a "typical" value. For example, in understanding statistics like household income or assets, which vary greatly, the mean may be skewed by a small number of extremely high or low values. Median income, for example, may be a better way to suggest what a "typical" income is.

There's pretty much no chance at all that a new Star Wars movie is actually coming out in 2022 since a. The Game of Thrones assholes quit their new trilogy b. RoS is underperforming at the box office c. The Mandalorian is doing ridiculously well and is creating all of the Star Wars hype they need in the world

If anything, expect a movie based on The Mandalorian... but there's no loving way they're pushing it or another new film out anytime soon.
