McLaughlin's such a piece of poo poo. Butthurt about not being able to bully the Republican candidate out of the race to make it easier to kick our mayor out, he's stalling an important project for downtown Troy.

State Sen. Zellnor Myrie wrote a Daily News op-ed alerting people how Cuomo has released none of the money earmarked to community organizations to ensure an accurate count of the Census in undercounted areas. half of the 500 tracts at risk of undercounting are in Brooklyn, mainly in poor and minority neighborhoods AM Diana Richardson used a different strategy with a post on her Facebook page:

you guys i think this article might be slanted to take an anti-de Blasio in some way on a better note, one thing i've noticed in the past few days of City & State news roundups is that the occasional trickle of anti-cuomo reporting has become a small, constant stream. this was at the end of the evening roundup: https://twitter.com/JimmyVielkind/status/1196426439995854848?mc_cid=6e3ce63a75&mc_eid=a20910b648 whether it will be enough to finally get some Albany cowards to speak up and say his name whenever his fingerprints are all over something remains to be seen. it's early yet

the state public election financing commission has just about wrapped up and the Daily News called it both too broad and too narrow in its mandate. i'm sure any idiot can guess why they phrased it in this seemingly contradictory fashion additionally, here's a good writeup about Cuomo's bad few weeks. there's still a stream of unflattering articles in the C&S roundups but, as this article puts it, this could change on a dime

FAQ NYC administered the Voight-Kampff test to a variety of NYC area political figures to determine, once and for all, whomst among our leaders is a Replicant. Unsurprisingly, Bill DeBlasio fails so badly that one can only assume he some kind of jank-rear end early prototype model.

the NYC media, never passing up an opportunity to poo poo over anything related to de blasio, have resorted to treating bloomberg as a serious presidential candidate. but it's worth pointing out that BdB has actually helped usher in some good laws, like universal pre-K, paid sick days, and banning employers from drug testing and credit score checking. he's been setting his sights on giving two weeks of paid vacation to people who work in NYC, but council speaker Corey Johnson has rejected its passing for this year. of course, he invoked the noble small businesses being put under too much stress as it is. so if he becomes mayor (probably), expect him to not sign it if it comes to his desk

NYC councilman Chaim Deutsch has been on a bit of a tear lately. he showed up at a local community education council meeting and got angry at the board for refusing to take action towards a member who made an anti-Asian comment in an email listserv. they're considering banning him from showing up at future meetings altogether because of his tone and using too much time to speak. i can't say i disagree with him here additionally, there are mumblings that he wants to run for Congress as a primary challenger to Yvette Clarke. not only does he have no chance of winning, i wouldn't be surprised if he split the Orthodox Jewish vote enough to pave the way for Adem Bunkeddeko to win. so i fully support this move

cuomo made a big dent in the bills that need his signature by the end of the year, reducing it by about half over the weekend. one of the baffling vetoes was a bill that would have expanded demographic data collected about Asian Americans. as things stand now, East and South Asians are part of the same demographic even though they have different cultures, community needs, statistics, etc. it's probably too rich for our penny-pinching governor's blood in yet another bullet point for the "cuomo and trump are cut from the same cloth" column, it's been speculated that he's leaning towards not signing the e-scooters and e-bikes legalization bill by the end of the year (effectively vetoing it) because Jessica Ramos, the bill's main Senate sponsor, had the absolute mind-numbing gall to speak out about the sham public financing committee. i'm not 100% sold on this being a good idea because i live across the corner from a restaurant that uses an e-bike for delivery and i've had a few close calls with getting hit by it, but i don't doubt that this is a petty rear end in a top hat way of dealing with the issue

Hey New Yorkers, I need your help! A bill sits on Cuomo's desk that needs signing, WITHOUT AMENDMENTS! It is for non-medical switching, which means that insurance companies cannot take away meds that were on the formulary at the beginning of the year. This is Really Important for many people. In my case, if my MS meds are taken from me, I can become seriously disabled and unable to work. Lobbyists are trying to dilute this bill by saying that insurance companies can take away any med with 60 days notice. Please sign this, if Cuomo caves in on this, it will mean the end to any usefulness I have in this life. https://secure.nationalmssociety.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=4037 Thank you!!!!!!!

Well in upstate news, the Broome County legislature passed an "emergency responder harassment" law last night, which is completely unnecessary at best and probably unconstitutional. The county executive still needs to sign it and it's not clear what he will do, but the only other county in the state that has passed such a law is Monroe, and the Rochester police chief and president of the police union both were against it, lol Seems like these counties did this because support are cops and there was no traction in the state legislature for the proposed blue lives matter bill after those NYPD cops were horribly and violently assaulted with water last summer. Pretty fuckin stupid
