Bush W declared the moon was the property of the US, and the world laughed. Space Force is there to knock down any other company/country that gets to colonize space before the US does. The world is still laughing.

xov posted:Weird question, but where was your Pastor Bob? Oklahoma State University (Stillwater) had one who would shout at folk every day from the lawn in front of the student union two decades ago. This is the kind of thing I imagine drat near every public university has. Where I went we had three distinct genres of nutty street preachers thanks to being so close to places like Bob Jones University and Billy Graham's camp in the mountains outside Asheville. The first was no biggie, they would stand at chokepoints of the sidewalks with some pamphlets and generally be annoying by getting in the way of the usual flow of people running to class. The anti-abortion nutters would set up giant posters of mislabeled late term miscarriages in places where they could ambush people. Eventually they figured out that the student groups would fire off emails warning where they were and people would station themselves on the sidewalk a good distance from them warning everyone not to go that way, so then they tried to bring in the abortion van to drive around campus but couldn't follow traffic rules worth a drat so 90% of the time you saw them campus police was writing them a ticket. The last type however was the absolute worst. Yelling about fornication and how everyone who didn't meet their standards for piety was going to hell. The one that came by most often was deeply deeply misogynistic and assumed any woman who dared to get an education instead of a husband what a hellbound harlot. He was also very mobile and would follow people around so he was harder to avoid. Someone figured out the church he was affiliated with and on the website he ran a newsletter about the number of sinners he spread the word to while being attacked by the forces of satan, with a bunch of the congregation praising his efforts and how he'll be rewarded for his work while everyone who rejected him will burn. Of course he always left out that the reason the campus police would jump on him and ban him from campus was because his frothing hatred of women who didn't follow god's role for them (i.e. didn't demurely listen to him just because he was a man) boiled over and he tried to physically obstruct them from walking away.

To nobody's surprise, the Van Drew party switch was the product of a spineless boomer with a giant ego getting in over his head by stubbornly making bad decisions. https://twitter.com/Bencjacobs/status/1209515893182611457 quote:Jeff Van Drew panicked. : quote:Despite the comparatively easy victory, Van Drew felt bruised that his victory was not by the margins he was accustomed to in his past legislative wins, according to the South Jersey Democrat — even though federal races are far more partisan than state-level races. The result prompted Van Drew to go back to his playbook from his days in Trenton and try to demonstrate his bipartisan credentials. There was an immediate hiccup in this plan, though, when Van Drew cast his first vote on Capitol Hill. He had pledged not to vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, but instead of supporting an alternative candidate, he tried to simply vote no. There was no such option under House rules.
