Cpt_Obvious posted:“What’s a good way to insult my big donors while also alienating my small donors?” Nah those mega-donors want him to have more grassroots support. They know their money is good, but it’s only good if he wins. Getting people to donate pocket change still creates the invested effect, boosts his raw unique donators number, and lowers his average donation amount, which are all positives to the Democratic base and can be touted in future campaign messages. It’s a way of cheesing the numbers. Bernie does it too but obviously he comes off as a lot more sincere, and asking for $1 is obviously very different than asking for 1 cent. A dollar is a positive number in your ledger while a penny probably does technically cost you money to process.

I truly feel that Bernie winning Iowa would give him the nomination, so I hope the campaign goes all out and spends everything they've got. I've been giving money and may actually drive out to Iowa that weekend (though I'll probably just phone bank). It still feels like there's a lot of faith in the magic Bernie enthusiasm gap, that might not actually materialize.

I finally managed to get through to my centrist family yesterday. Got the whole bunch of them pretty upset about some of the things Pete Biden and Warren are doing and saying. When I said “he’s gonna win” I heard some “I hope so’s” The sad part about arguing with centrists is convincing them that good things are possible.

People are going to call Sanders the Democratic Trump if he rides a "party outsider" populist wave to the nomination and it's going to give all of us migraines.

I'm just getting around to watching the rest of the PBS primary and can I just say how all of these politicians are so goddamn out of touch. I know they have to get the "rust belt vote" or "middle america". I live on the coast and when they talk about people sitting down and doing their bills at the end of the month at the "kitchen table", well guess what! I don't have a kitchen table! My kitchen is a small hallway because I live in an apartment. And I'm far from the only one. These analogies are so loving dated. I do my bills on a laptop. Because I'm under 70 years old. Talk about rent control. Talk about anything that affects me. I would love someone to talk about rent control since the concept of buying a house is absolutely beyond my imagination.

I remember in '16, that was one of the (many) criticisms leveled against Hillary, that she never did anything to earn anyone's vote and simply expected it as her due, and how dare we loving peasants expect her to appeal to her voters. So this is just some rear end in a top hat trying to gloat over some false equivalence poo poo so they can feel smug and get one over on the Berniebros of 4 years past.

I mean, those donut people are supposed to be Bernie’s foes, right? The fact that this was tweeted at all tells me two things: 1. They are actually starting to believe/notice that Bernie could win the primary and is probably the favorite, and 2. They are already preparing themselves psychologically to vote for this guy they have hated for years. This is all very encouraging. I worry about the centrist parts of the party working hard to keep the nomination from Bernie at the convention, but I’m less worried about him not getting support in the general from those people. Liberals hate Trump way more than some of you guys give them credit for; and they will turn out to defeat him, even if they still harbor negativity towards Bernie.
