Tighclops posted:I told you JJ Abrams was poo poo I think 1/4 of the posters in this thread have been saying that since it was announced that he would take the reigns back in 2015. Anyone who watched ST:09, and ST:ITD knew exactly what was going to happen after he remade the same movie (Wrath of Khan) two times in a row. Anyone have a link to the previous star wars thread? I think it was old enough to verify that.

amusinginquiry posted:I always figured the galaxy is just real real big, so even if there were thousands of Jedi running around, most normal Star Wars people would never encounter them, let alone see real force powers in action. It's pretty explicit how the Force is viewed by the galaxy at large in ANH though. Luke's never even heard of it, and people like Han or the mouthy Moff who have heard of it regard it as a means of parlor trickery not all that much different than you and I would view, say, psychic detectives or tarot readers I thought the confusion by everybody except the old blacksmith lady over what the gently caress Baby Yoda was doing was one of the best parts of the episode. Just emblematic of how much firmer a grasp the people making it have on the mechanics and milieu of Star Wars than the people making the movies do

Killing him was a mercy. Edit: Emphatically, consume excrement.

People keep talking about Disney firing Kathleen Kennedy but what is anyone basing this off of? Lucasfilms is profitable and even presidents of unprofitable companies are very rarely publicly fired and then only if they’re doing something super racist in public, so what is everyone talking about? Is this based on anything or is this just people mad about Star Wars and not understanding how corporate culture works?

one of the weirder things in the ST is how no one seems to know what happened in the ROTJ throne room confrontation did luke tell people vader killed palpatine? or did luke tell people, or let them believe, he did it? both of these have interesting ramifications for his character. luke, hero of the republic, knowing that he was second from death had his father, the monster vader, not assassinated ol' sheev. disney didn't seem to know what to do with it so they just had no one talk about it or seem to know about it. plus that weird moment where luke calls him 'darth vader' and not anakin skywalker.

Why would Luke have to tell anyone anything? Vader and the Emperor were on the death Star when the rebel alliance blew it up.

I mean you can be actively disliking more than one bad thing at a time? What I recall from the live action avatar (thankfully not much), it did have some pretty cool special effects in the fight scenes even if they didn't follow much of the cartoons world building. Cracker overflow didn't help either.

Seems like all the mass of the ship would be out of the pilots immediate awareness and make threading it through places really really difficult. Also every time the ship rolled left or right the cockpit would swing up and down wildly like an amusement park ride. It’s why in normal ships / planes the cockpit is on the centerline.

I liked the diss at the end where the outer galaxy retired rebels answer the call for help when it’s Lando asking. In TLJ they ignored it when Leia asked for help. Leia, like most monarchs, had absolutely no business being in charge of an army. I also love that they had to retcon in Leia secretly doing Jedi training so as to justify her suddenly being able to use Jedi powers in the vacuum of space in TLJ. What a dogshit movie.
