I doubt I'd ever play but I knew so little about the witch hunter factions in 3rd ed that I'm curious about how the army has or hasn't changed in the last 20 odd years. The consensus is that it’s probably the best designed codex of 8th. 1. There’s a variety of builds for a variety of types of army. I.e. you can build very different melee focused lists. 2. The special mechanics are fluffy, relatively quick to resolve, provide some interesting decision making, and and are at the sweet spot of feeling impactful but not overpowered. 3. While the codex hasn’t been solved yet, currently there are only a couple “must haves” for good lists. 4. And most importantly, the power level of the army is allegedly in the “good, but clearly not top tier” range. Which frankly is what all codex design should strive for. I’m really excited for the 8.5 edition codexes if the sisters are the new standard of design quality.

My first 4 Fire Warriors. Not as happy with them as I am with the commander and XV8 battlesuit, but they aren't horrible.

I think you might get a stronger scheme with some darker fatigues. Right now the yellow and the bright fatigues are competing with each other to draw your attention. Progressing from darker to lighter as the 'layers' of the model build up could look less chaotic. EDIT: the blue you'ce got on there already is solid and I like the scheme overall, so this post isn't just criticizing.

I second this, if the fatigues were a darker blue or grey it would make the blues and yellows "pop" more.

I used some nuln oil on them to get the recesses to come out a bit more, and then i've done about 5 coats of yellow over it and i still can't get a frickin solid yellow. I'm just skipping that step on later ones. I did the light fatigues to kind of mesh with the color scheme on my battlesuits, but I see what you are saying and might try a darker grey.

You've gotta use like Seraphim Sepia and then do highlights on top of that if you wanna create contrast. That or apply the nuln oil with a tiny brush and don't actually fully wash it, but that's pretty hard. The blue looks great though, those are plenty good for the table.

Yeah for yellow you don't want to do an all-over wash, you want to do a pin wash, or even just start with a brown base and build up to yellow.

Also worthy of consideration is the take of the person who was supposedly victimized by Beer's "trans-phobia": quote:Beer said something about a candidate in the Democratic primary thread, a trans poster called him out of it (and then another mod probated that poster), then a callout thread got started in D&D where someone linked to Beer's post here. Beer's restated apology from a few hours ago got linked in there by a third mod who said they'd handle the whole thing again after the holidays when the mod staff wasn't busy with family.
