Plus side about all this is that Jesus will come down and allly with the US and Israel to settle the score in the final battle of Armageddon. Or so the main policy makers in DC believe. We are so loving screwed with this poo poo.

I believe so.

Iran may have just given Trump a reason to erase their entire airforce/navy. Iran may be good at launching missiles at targets in their neighborhood, but if they're expecting to soak up an attack by the US military with an unhinged moron in charge of it, they're completely hosed.

How much is this going to embolden militias and other groups that hate the US? Like the Taliban? The US getting stretched thin with an Iran war is going to open opportunities for them.

Will we though? There's a good chance Trump will flip flop on that because leaving after this will make him look super weak.

If Trump leaves and deescalates his presidency will be far from the worst one, even with the concentration camps. So chances of that seem zero.

About half the time, so our best hope for no further escalation tonight is that they all fall out of the sky before getting Iranian airspace.

That was the F-22, which was also a plane people made fun of for being terrible until it turned out to be pretty great when they fixed that issue. The F-35 was clearly a loving disaster in terms of procurement, and I think compromises were clearly made in the design that shouldn't have been, but it should still be more than capable of dealing with Iran's air force.

I would have said earlier that this was just an empty show of force, the equivalent of Trump's parking lot attack. but it seems like the Iranian leadership did actually drink the koolaid.

People joke about the F-35 but it can be both horrendously over-priced and a state-of-the-art killing machine that outmatches anything it is likely to face even in a WW3 scenario. That's how expensive it is.

The idea that the US is okay with proportional responses when they're targeted against us is also kind of laughable. It depends on what kind of damage was done, but I wouldn't expect even a restrained administration to just admit that we deserved this and should take our licks.
