Has your club approached the paper and been like "Hey we're doing self defense fundraiser thing taught by actual fighters"? A lot of the time you gotta go out and promote your self, journalists are like every one else and wouldn't be able to tell bullshit self defense advice from something legit useful like "buy running shoes" so if a dude from dlab came up and said "Look at these weirdos they don't know how the streetz is, we're running the true sauce over here" they'd might run with it thinking they're doing a public service. edit: kimbo305 posted:Presumably higher priority for famous Gracie black belts to come by to do seminars / belt ceremonies? That keysi poo poo made sense and looked cool when Batman is swinging those metal sharpened arm guards around and breaking feet on his hip protector. In a movie. It's embarrassing in gym shorts and T-shirts. Some dog brother/hema guys should armor up and go at it for my amusement. The Batman fight league BFL

They’ve got a video where their advice on how to get out of an RNC is “stab the guy”, and another about how if a man gets too close in a bar you just jam a broken bottle into him. Just totally normal going to prison stuff, everyone’s doing it these days. Honestly, their Facebook stuff is well worth watching because it’s hilarious. Ever wanted to know how to attack a man with your baseball cap? They’ve got the *forbidden techniques*...

2nd class. I went to the beginner class this time. More warm ups than the other class to get my fat rear end in shape. The only thing I still can't do is anything involving somersaults because just one will make me dizzy and fall over. We spent a small part of the class working on our stance and most of the class grabbing the gi by the wrist and the lapel and pulling down a few times and then one to set up for a guillotine which we also did. I tapped early of course but if you do 20+ of them it's going to hurt eventually. My throat is in pain. It was fun. No rolling this time since it's the beginner class and it was all white belts and one blue belt.

I never understood the magic guys. Not the fakes themselves, they're scam artists, but the people that allow themselves to be hit with chi blasts or whatever. Like, they know they're lying to themselves. Although sometimes it doesn't work. Like this time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU-OFhMcw9Q&t=39s

I'd say this guy's sparring looks pretty good for one year of training, assuming it was 1-3 times a week. He's got a lot of flaws that will take a long time to iron out, but looks about as comfortable in there as people who trained from scratch for 2 years. It wasn't obvious to me what if any habits or anti-habits he picked up from aikido. His biggest flaw defensively is leaning back to avoid strikes, but that looks the same as people who have 0 prior experience would do.
