Did you ever think, "Man, what this oldschoold speed/power metal really needs is more treble"? Because if you did, then Witchlords have got you, fam! https://witchlords.bandcamp.com/album/demons-in-the-dark Really great stuff, but drat that production threw me off for a bit. Nazzadan posted:New release today, Vengeful Spectre out of China. Meloblack with heavy chinese folk elements, this was such a great listen. The usage of chinese string instruments (I am too dumb and american to know them by name) is incorperated so well and the whole album is insanely polished for a self released s/t. This is good but honestly could use a lot more of those traditional instruments.

Like xzzy, it just took me a bit to get used to the production, but once I did this is really good poo poo. I love how the vocalist is channeling Kai Hansen here and there. This may have already been posted, but I just stumbled across it while looking at a venue's website, Fu Manchu US/EU 30th Anniversary Tour: Also, no poster, but it looks like more dates have been added to the Possessed/Pestilence tour if you check out Possessed's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/possessedofficial/events/?ref=page_internal Also, I know there's a couple of Chicago goons in here who should check out this show: FanaticalMilk fucked around with this message at 02:18 on Jan 16, 2020 |

Usually not a fan of long songs and proggy stuff, but these guys are sounding awesome - and every song has a few moments which make you stop and really listen. It has the adventurous charm of Turisas mixed with the grandiosity of Devin Townsend, a fair sprinke of Opeth and their own thing of course. Really great album, it's been a while since I've liked something straight away without having to 'digest' the music. Here's a cut: My favorite album of 2019, which says a lot as a lot of amazing albums came out last year.

I come bearing some bandcamp gifts. https://barbarierockindial.bandcamp.com/album/ciudades-podidas - Barbarie is a Chilean death'y/thrash'y metal band. Very cool. https://vomitdivision.bandcamp.com/album/rites-of-vomit - Vomit Division is apparently a one man death/thrash/crustpunk band from Germany. It's nice and dirty. https://rogueogre.bandcamp.com/album/the-dungeon - I'll let the bandcamp description stand on its own. "Rogue Ogre is the Coachella Valley's premiere OGRE METAL band." (it's sort of weird death/doom metal) https://examusic.bandcamp.com/album/cut-the-past - EXA is a German thrash metal band and they're apparently brand new. If you picture in your minds ear what a German thrash metal vocalist sounds like, this guy sounds exactly like that.

Nightwish announced their upcoming album: If I understand this correctly, the second CD with the 8 part track is sadly an instrumental. Also, it seems like Tuomas is doubling down on the proggy life/evolution/nature'n'stuff thingy that started with EFMB. Alsoalso, pretty weird track titles. Mildly interested, to tell the truth I actually liked their live release of old songs very much (especially stuff like Dead Boy's Poem and The devil and the deep dark ocean). Same, because the production on Endless Forms is really flat and weak. The songs work tons better on the live recordings because there's more heft and power to them. I hope this album will be different, but it's been mastered by the same guy so I worry. Personally I'm intrigued by the weird titles and all. I might poke fun at Holopainen now and then, but I do respect the dude and his ~*artistic vision*~. I don't expect the music itself to be too proggy or weird even if the album's exterior is a bit different.
