You guys probably know this album by now (wilderun - Veil of Imagination), but I just heard it and find it really great. Usually not a fan of long songs and proggy stuff, but these guys are sounding awesome - and every song has a few moments which make you stop and really listen. It has the adventurous charm of Turisas mixed with the grandiosity of Devin Townsend, a fair sprinke of Opeth and their own thing of course. Really great album, it's been a while since I've liked something straight away without having to 'digest' the music. Here's a cut:

Stumbled across this band recently myself and it’s not my normal cup of tea but The Tyranny of Imagination is so loving good!

Blind Guardian have a new website, and along with the old site their forum has shut down. :( That place was the first internet community I really got into, and was like Internet home to me for years.
Sure it was a complete ghost town at this point, but it was really pretty lively back in the day and I'm honestly pretty bummed out to see it just gone.

Hello? Charlemagne?!
It's Jane Doe.

Edit: This seems like a good excuse to post this super interesting Vice article where Jacob Bannon "ranks" and reflects on each Converge album:

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/ywzqbw/rank-your-records-converge-jacob-bannon

He does that annoying "our best album is the next one!" gimmick but it's still very cool to read his thoughts on the band's back catalog.

Arguably correct if you want to be objective about it, but it was the one my teenaged self randomly discovered in the summer of '89, less than a year after I started listening to metal at all, and for which I was completely loving unprepared. So I'm not going to try to be objective.

All of that was lost on me back then sadly enough. Kurt’s riffs are so under appreciated if you really dig into what he has been playing on every album. Admittedly I’ve kinda cooled on my Converge hype (hm weird feeling to admit that) in recent years but man they wrote/write songs that you can’t even rip off because of how locked in and unique that band’s energy is.

For whatever reason I used to have old folks ask me about my Jane Doe shirt constantly for years and years. I have no clue why. “oh it’s art from a rock band i like, it’s not supposed to be a real person”.
