Not to further the derail, but Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a very promising, fairly new, non-drug treatment. It's especially good for sadbrains, but I've seen it used to successfully treat other disorders as well.

I know it can sound like "magnets, how do they work?" quackery, but I also know a number of people who've had very good results with it.

Took like two years (I think, maybe more, my memory of much of that period is non-existent) of cycling through a whole bunch of meds until we found a cocktail that mostly works and also doesn't have unbearable side effects. Wellbutrin, effexor, and lithium for major depressive disorder, no bipolar... I think depression is an off label use for lithium but it was the last piece of the cocktail and hasn't seemed to cause any side effects which I am very thankful for.

I spent like 5 years being treated for bipolar disorder and it just made things worse. Well turns out other things can look like bipolar disorder if you don't talk about them but at least the Seroquel gave me a headstart in the boob department 🤷

Eh, I went years without getting on meds when I needed them because of the stigma. Anytime something like this happens to destigmatize it, it might help someone to get the help they need. So worth it if it helped anyone.

I just got a referral yesterday to look into getting that done. I’m sick to death of being on lexapro. Don’t get me wrong, it has worked for me, and with no libido issues, but my emotional apex is just a flat line. I’m not wishing for death’s cold embrace like I used to as a kid, but everything is still just... ehh. And sure, I get it, TMS is for treatment-resistant patients, but is it any better having to be on SSRIs for life? It’s been twelve years (would have been twice that had I been properly diagnosed), and if I miss more than a single dose, I’m hosed.

That link between colour blindness and depression is interesting. As someone with lifelong depression I wonder if it's why I'm drawn to day-glo and neon colours and need super bright, cool-toned lights on otherwise I feel like everything is monochromatic.

Seems like you might have some depressive tendencies. I hear therapy is good, if you get a good one maybe you will get prescribed some drugs.

My guess is that it's just an odd picture. Why did they choose this one for their auto insurance ad? Why is the handbag circled? Why are there signatures all over the roof of the car?

It's an ad about saving money on auto insurance. Where is money kept? Metaphorically, in your handbag. Also, you have to sign a check to validate it, and the BangBus is also a financial vehicle.
