In terms of preventing Bernie from winning? No.

But they control everything from the agenda of the convention to amendments to the party charter and nominations to DNC offices.

In other words, if they want to change back the superdelegate rule, etc. they can.

Like, the whole thing in 2008 where they decided to strip Florida and Michigan of delegates because of the date of their primaries was reversed by the rules committee (in that case, because Obama asked them to and there was enough of a difference that it wouldn't have mattered, so it was symbolic, but theoretically they could have done the same even in a scenario where they'd flip the whole thing to Hillary).

More importantly, I doubt that they would be this blatant if they had no intention of using it to ratfuck if not Sanders, at least the progressive wing of the party.

Can they change the superdelegate rules before the voting this year, or will they have to wait until after the voting? It'd be hilariously blatant if they could somehow just rules-lawyer their way into saying "actually superdelegates can vote on the first ballot this time, and they're all voting for Biden lol"

They can do literally whatever they want to do. Again, in 08 the rules stated that the Florida and Michigan delegations could not be seated, but they changed the rules during the start of the convention so that they could. In this case it was more about image than anything, but there is nothing formal that prevented them from doing the same in the case where it would change the outcome of the primary.

Thing is I feel like the DNC is significantly dumber than the RNC and much more likely to burn itself to the ground

I mean I hope I'm wrong but the DNC has given me no confidence that they have any idea how badly they can gently caress themselves here.

Do the leftists all join DSA at that point or what

I'd hope Bernie would either encourage that or start an actual Labor Party/Socialist Party in response

Yeah if Bernie walks into the convention with the popular mandate their only recourse is to nuke everyone and everything. It would mean no Bernie, but also self destruction... Which they might choose lol.

Changing the superdelegate rules prior to the the first ballot would be the end of the democratic party. Yes they are dumb and hate Bernie, but I don't know if they are willing to self immolate quite so obviously and in a building/streets stuffed with Bernie delegates and supporters.

They really think they found the thing that works, huh? Hammer on the Rogan endorsement and try to play up both the hatefulness and what it means to accept an endorsement to peel away LGBTQ supporters. Dunno if it'll work but it appears centrists really think it will and they're gonna hammer on this until Bernie gives in or until Iowa, whichever comes first.

The DNC leadership is why Bernie must not only win a simple majority of delegates, he must completely annihilate all these other Dem jokers so that everyone up for re-election will fear getting primaried themselves if they don't bend the knee.

Rogan said he thinks transwomen should not be allowed to compete in pro sports with non-trans women. Not saying I agree with his take, but as far as transphobic things go, pretty loving mild.

edit: Rasmussen did a poll and found 51% of Americans would agree with Joe, and 29% disagree, with 20% undecided.
