I haven't built the BSK-M3 yet so I'm not sure if it comes with Double Heatsinks or not, someone else can confirm that.

Thanks for this! While I'm interested in DHS, the list is short enough that I can keep an eye out for anything "interesting"/rare. Probably worth keeping some of those chassis on hand for Flashpoints that don't let me deploy my Steiner Scout Lance.

Speaking of interesting chassis: I've grabbed a few Marauders, but haven't figured out what to do with 'em yet. I see people saying what a boon it is even at endgame, and while the special module certainly LOOKS good enough for me to give it a try (when I decide what to kit it out with), is having one on the field truly as good as just having another Annihilator/Atlas II?

(Haven't seen a Bullshark of any flavor yet, and I haven't read up on it so it's still a mystery for me :v:

I was wondering if it was significantly more than 18% to hit the head. I was thinking that 70-damage ER PPCs might look nice on a dedicated headcapper . . .

I have had pretty good success now with my current mechs, and they're still mostly running vanilla ++ weapons. Really looking forward to playing with some of the new stuff.

Marauders remain competitive with fully kitted out Annihilators, yes, and that's before you take their damage reduction aura into account. I'd probably take one over an Atlas-2, but I'd take an Atlas-2 over a second Marauder, if that makes sense.

Notably the BL-6b-KNT and HGN-732b do not show up in the shops in an unmodded game because of a typo in the itemCollections text files (the b is supposed to be lowercase but the text file has them capitalized)

Having a Marauder on the field is a must-have imo, simply being on the field gives a damage reduction to your entire lance at all times. It also gives you a cheat button to delete any mech with a precision headshot in case you get yourself into a situation where your lance is seemingly hosed. It doesn't have the raw durability and weapons payload of an assault, but a 75 ton heavy is still pretty beefy.

For Bull Sharks you'll have to do the Heavy Metal flashpoint to make them show up, once you complete it they start to spawn in enemy forces.

With Called Shot Mastery that 18% turns into 35%, and a free passive 10% damage reduction for your lance. The Marauder is cheating, basically.

lol, I got another UAC20++, and now have a 2xUAC20++, 4xML++ ANH with a ballistic accuracy comp, and 2xDHS that just effortlessly murders things. I'm running it with a breaching shot pilot. Thats almost 300 damage that can't be reduced by cover, nearly 600 damage from the UAC20s alone, and over 700 damage total.

Tired: Called shots with ML/SRMs on rear/side arcs
Wired: Called shots on head with a 2xUAC2++/4xERML Marauder
Inspired: Lmao, who needs called shots? I have an Annihilator.

This is a rough approximation of what getting your first Marauder is like, by the way--you get it, and suddenly you have three full lances of assault mechs.

I've lowballed salvage on low skull missions that have large payouts expecting a fuckton of vehicles, and then saw something shiny I wanted and immediately regretted the decision.

If you go less than 3 picks after getting a Marauder you're intentionally punching yourself in the dick.

The only time I've even seen a Marauder on the field I ended up exiting and restarting to make sure I had negotiated enough salvage. This is when I learned that the game rerolls enemy types.

Marauders kind of break the game, and you don't even need 9 tactics, just called shot mastery to get near 35% headshot. From what I've seen, you'll want a greater number of smaller weapons to maximize the called shot bonus. I'm rolling 2 MAD's with 2xUAC5 and 4xMLAS and it's been working like a dream.

The downside is I don't really care about OPFOR makeup apart from playing mech pokemon. Head armor/structure for mechs is all the same, so that pucker factor at seeing some big badass mech is gone, they're all a single called shot roll of the dice. The only time there's really any danger is if I get a string of called shot misses, then it's a race to survive incoming damage while I build up morale again.

How on Earth are you supposed to visit every system in career? I'm almost down to 600 days and I have all of marik, Liao, and davion space unvisited. I already do the thing where I mostly stay on the jump ship point to point and only go to the planet if there's great contracts or store items, or it's the end of a star route. Which also has cut my income pretty dramatically too.

Passing through the system via jumpship route count as visiting. You can also change route while attached to jumpship, which can help with cheessing a system or two per trip.

Boy, the Assassin is a little murder monster with a COIL-M and three heat sinks. It can fire four times straight if you're judicious.

Too bad my god drat pilots only hit one of those four times :negative:

Also lol I now have 2 ERMLs, 2 ERSLs, 2 SPLSs, skipped out on an ERPPC (why bother), a DHS, an inferno++, and ten of various LBXs and UACs LBX2s. It started me in Marik territory so all the stores are overflowing with lostech compared to my last campaign which had almost none. I don't even have enough mechs to slap all that poo poo onto, the Firestarter overheats itself if it tries, I love it

Sure, but not 1 by itself or in the Firestarter's place, the equivalent number of MGs/small lasers, and it had a ballistic slot before the LBX was in the game

The Phoenix Hawk has the issue where if you're going with jets it won't have the tonnage to have much besides that LBX too. Though I guess you could just not put extra jets on and have it hop in place constantly, but then it's an LBX and 3 MLs or an LL or something

Phoenix Hawk does OK with COIL-L. Yes, it's not taking advantage of its bonus, and as you said Assasin is a better fit for coils, but it's a pretty mobile mech for its size even on the ground, and the size means it's not made from tissue paper.

I am playing Battletech Extended 3025 - Commander's Edition with the optional Beaglerush Masochism Difficulty Pack and I'm really enjoying myself.

Contracts are crushingly hard even .5 missions have swarms of light 'mechs coming at you. Most 'mechs from the start of the game have full armor. Drop costs are expensive so you need to make sure you are earning enough to cover your deployments or that you are going to get enough salvage to cover your expenses. It uses the community resource pack, so stuff like Wasps and Stingers and OstScouts are showing up, and all 'mechs have quirks. (The Assassin will kill your pilot dead if the 'mech overheats thanks to it's terrible life support system).

It is really satisfying. I am having to play it really tight, you can't afford to make mistakes because getting back on your feet is hard.

If you are looking for a challenge and want to start again I recommend giving it a go.

One thing I really like is that your pilots tags all have an effect and they get chassis related perks for piloting the same type of mech enough.
