In a dramatic act of psychological damage I'm watching QT and sweet jesus "what about these coronavirus people coming back on the same flight? won't they all infect each other?" I don't know random member of the audience, lets ask a comedian and a transport minister what they think, clearly our medical professionals are borderline incompetent and its up to us in the audience to sort this out. gently caress me.

In a functional government, the transport minister (who would be largely responsible for quarantine procedures) would be relaying information from the medical professionals informing government policy. In this one? Eeeehh...

they had an unmanned charity stall thing at a service station I was at where you could donate whatever and take a book, and I couldn't remember whether they were the lovely ones or if that was the legion so I erred on the side of caution and gave them like 5p for a 300 page book lol

Politics of 'heroes' aside H4H only help if you get a leg blown off and don't care about mental health or readjusting to not being in a military environment and how violence and denial isn't a solution to fixing your relationships so they're actually really bad at the help as well.

It's sad how the second after the last WW1 era soldier passed the entirety of the charities that were set up to help just devolved fully into "Rah Rah" weirdness.

I'm thinking about China now, and oh lord please someone direct me to some good quality non-lib scholarship on the market reform period because every time I think I understand what the CPC are doing I trip over into my own stupid confusion all over again. Like, Deng, the face of the liberalisation of the economy and 'opening up', wasn't a stuffy grey bureaucrat who'd been born into communism (i.e. Gorbachev). He'd was an actual revolutionary during the civil war! He was fighting for a reason. How does someone like that end up doing what he did? I'm sure he'd argue there is a plan here (develop the necessary productive forces to create the necessary abundance for socialism), but surely China is at that point now? Xi is another confusing guy, his background doesn't scream 'crypto-capitalist' to me, he really did put the graft in reading Marxist theory as a youngster and had an almighty struggle getting to where he is with denounced parents getting him constantly rejected from CPC membership.

I think it might be a consequence of seeing something you built get used by another faction that you were close with used for some insane horseshit.
