Doesn't matter. R's have made up their minds based on if they have a tough election cycle or not. Trump could tweet out details of how he did the whole thing, and the defense team would just pretend it doesn't exist to push forward.

Isn’t executive privilege inapplicable in impeachment trials anyway?

McCain did them a favor killing that and it’s my personal pet theory that he did that with McConnell’s blessing/guidance.

Remember that vote was just to send it to committee to basically write from scratch, as Ryan had said flat out he was going to pass whatever it was they came up with. McCain nuking it let him have one last handjob from the media, and helped save the gop from itself, which is all McCain cared about his entire career.

McCain was so out of it at that point he went on msnbc after the vote, grinning from ear to ear, and slurred our a child pornography joke. He had no idea where he was.

And then the first chance he got he gutted the ACA for a tax cut.

Who is this pointed at, though? Like, I'm torn because a Chaplain should very honestly understand that Lying Is Bad and anyone with a single brain cell bouncing around in their heads should find it obvious that the GOP has been incessantly lying and covering up or just straight up admitting that "yeah he did it, yeah it might be impeachable, but it's not in our best interest to remove him"...

on the other hand, it would not surprise me at all that a member of the clergy in the senate would be a hard republican either. <_<

I want to point this out.

I've had a few arguments outside my apartment with folks about the House supeonas while on weed smoke break. And every time I mention:

"The White House is literally arguging Absolute Immunity. They cannot be investigated or prosecuted for any crime, they cannot be compelled to turn over any evidence. They are literally arguging US v. Nixon should be overturned."

They look at me like I'm lying. "That's not true."

When I hand them my phone with the court transcript where the judge literally goes:

Judge: "So, you're arguging US v. Nixon was decided incorrectly and should be overturned?"
WH Defense: *sheepishly* "Y-Yes. That is the the defense's position."

I get a few of reactions. Either:

1. "This is fake/out of context"
2. "I disagree, but they should go through the courts anyway"
3. "I agree, the House is being partisan and their requests are not legit."

There is no hope for these people. They literally are Fascists, they just won't admit it. Most of them.

So Bolton just implicated Cippollone as a co-conspirator in the Ukraine scheme?

Aren’t lawyers bound by ethics laws that make it illegal for them to lie on behalf of their clients? Or allow their co-counsel to lie on behalf of their client in their defense?

Like, you get disbarred and go to jail for using a defense that you know is a lie because the evidence has been withheld? That’s how this is supposed to work, why are people not freaking out about this?
