It's Brexit Day, as finally a Brexit happens! Now begins the transition period until the clock strikes midnight (CET) at the end of the year, at which point a Super Brexit rises. Also happening this month is the Labour Leadership Election, from 21/2/2020 to 4/4/2020 . Currently running for leader are: Rebecca Long-Bailey Generally held as leftmost by nominations, and viewed by some as the 'continuity Corbyn candidate'. Momentum supported. Has some Roman Catholic personal views. Lisa Nandy Towns candidate for towns and other places that are larger than villages and smaller than cities. From the Labour 'soft left' but some of her associates are a bit Blue Labour. Emily Thornberry Sacked by Ed Miliband for taking a picture of a house. First to run after Corbyn said he'd step down, generally in the Corbyn Cabinet Camp. Keir Starmer Was the longtime favourite to win. Probable melt/Milibandist. Deputy leadership candidates: Dawn Butler Angela Rayner Rosena Allin-Khan Ian Murray Richard Burgon Alfredo Navarro Salanga - 5 February posted:Find no symbol in the capture of the reservoir: water can do no sculpting. Just got told by a ‘farmers daughter’ (an actual way in which people describe themselves in rural farming areas) that is vegans (of which I am one) are destroying the british agricultural industry so I went on a completely ad-libbed three minute rant about how the tories now have free reign to gently caress over the last powerful union in the country (the NFU), the fact that we left the CAP which is the largest organisation in the word to try to keep farming produce at a competitive price to benefit the farmers and that every free trade agreement the US has entered into they’ve insisted on removing “country of origin” statements from packaging so once we’re trading with them even putting “British beef”on a package will be against the loving law. Someone made a half arsed effort to call me out on not buying British beef but I pulled a Liz Truss and said that it was an absolute DISGRACE that we import 98% of our chickpeas I mean the countries hosed but we might as well enjoy ourselves. loving hell

The remain fight is over, now begins the chance to do something better. - We take every opportunity to be smug when some tory oval office farmer or fisherman complains about how their over-inflated income has taken a hit after brexit. Their misery brings me succour. - We absolutely pin every failure on the Tories and their incompetence and inability to barter the brexit they promised everyone. - We need to get in early to deal with the "traitorous europe" narrative they're going to try to spin. We need to clearly present the counter-narrative, that our enemy wasn't Europe, but capitalism. re: eusupergirl though. The gently caress was that about? Horny dads being grifted doesn't fully explain it. She's horrendously bad at singing and won't sleep with you.

Don't cuck to the organisation that has handwaved brutality against protestors since its inception, to use the most obvious example the gilet jaune deserve better than that.

Referring back to the idea from the last thread of reconciling with the fubpees... why? They're loud as gently caress but electorally meaningless and frankly most of them demonstrated last year that the movement was at least as anti-socialist as anti-Brexit, explicitly so in the case of the People's Vote campaign and their assorted hangers-on. Not that we should treat the hashtag as a Mark of Cain to forever reject them - most of them are pretty low-information and with the heat of Brexit taken out of the situation will hopefully be amenable to coming over to the right side of history - but they don't actually bring anything to the table for us when it comes to getting back into power, and that's where the Labour Party needs to be expending it's efforts right now. Ultimately the collapse of the Lib Dems gives us a chance to rebuild the Blair-era coalition in the opposite direction - we can rely on London, Liverpool, etc to vote for us for at least another couple of elections so we need to reach back out to them (and to Scotland) with actual good policies, actively courting the Fubpee demographic can wait until we've got Bolsover back.
