KLM didn't put my bag on the plane in AMS despite the connecting flight being somehow 40 minutes delayed. When I tried to exercise my rights under EU law to be reimbursed for a change of clothes for the day for me and my gf, it was 2 days of dealing with customer service people who lied, and websites that couldn't comprehend that a receipt photo in 2020 might be larger than 3 MB or that foreigners might not have a EU bank account number.

Once they realized I was a filthy American they kicked it over to Delta who had a check in my mailbox in like a week.

As this boring story of a personal grudge against a corporation demonstrates, The Netherlands must be allowed to sink back into the sea. q.e.d

otoh my gf who is a Turkish national says that of the Schengen countries the Netherlands consulate in NYC is the nicest and easiest to get tourist visa from, and they even let her stop by at lunch once without an appointment to double check some visa things. So I dunno maybe flip a coin I guess?

TBH, reading about the Swamp Germans is much better than the politics in the UK, a depressing hellhole somehow managing to be even more racist and bad than usual.

On top of that, with Scottish independence polling at the highest point since the indyref in 2014 the former leader of the SNP will be on trial for some sort of sexual assault charge which many members think could also bring down Nicola Sturgeon. And now on top of that the SNP Finance Minister, favourite to replace Sturgeon as leader if she goes this year, has been accused by The Sun of posting really horny DMs to a 16 year old. Despite being warned he was 16. Which leaves the next major SNP leadership candidate as Johanna Cherry, one of the most vocal TERF politicians in the entire rotten UK.

Yes. UK passports might not work without special paperwork where you declare "I'm not crazy" to the EU. It'll take six weeks to process and they'll probably check your social media. Irish passports will continue to work as normal. Not a joke, unlike every other answer I'm about to give.

The EU recommendation that entities not bound by EU trading rules continue to treat Britain as a part of the EU is just that - a recommendation. There's no law that says we should accommodate their peculiarities anymore. If they wanted to have a say, they should be part of a trade union that guarantees them that say.

Imo the image was just that, an image. The racism and xenofobia has always been there.

Also, tolerance is not acceptance, which seems obvious but imo if you're only tolerant and not accepting, there can never be true integration.
