might as well ask this here LPOTL apparently just went over to spotify with an exclusive deal, which unfortunately fucks me over since I work in a secure facility that doesn't allow devices with cameras or an internet connection onto the floor. That means I have to actually download all my podcasts onto a dirt cheap sandisk clipjam. Does anyone know of any places where I can still download LPOTL episodes, or if there is some secret way to download them on spotify?

Spotify only lets you download and listen offline on devices that support the app, and despite their relative popularity they don't seem to have the readily accesible bank of mirrors of their free and premium episodes like a Chapo or RWN. I'd just take the L and maybe listen to podcasts that aren't the same stale recycled jokes and "improv" responses by a bunch of rapidly physically and mentally deteriorating sellouts

A lot of the time it's pretty obvious their subject is just a crazy person or grifter selling a book but they tend to take them seriously which can get annoying. I've come to understand they probably don't believe a lot of it and they're just acting credible because a lot of these people and their friends (the paranormal community is weirdly incestuous) will end up doing interviews on their show. oh no ross and carrie is pretty awesome but more from a skeptic/debunking angle. they actually go join cults and poo poo then do hours and hours of podcasts about them. They did a bunch of eps on scientology, OTO (aleister crowley's cult), and one of those ayahuasca resorts in central america. ross actually did ayahuasca like four times for that project which was interesting At first I thought thinking sideways was neat because they talk about a bunch of niche mysteries and weird poo poo i hadn't heard of, but they kind of have the opposite problem of the mysterious universe guys. they really super think of themselves as smart and logical and will inevitably come to the conclusion that the mystery is a hoax or coincidence because of occam's razor or whatever, and they mostly take official accounts at face value. they do a lot of summarizing wikipedia articles too, which once you notice it gets tedious.

Still say a lot about neoliberal co-option of feminism makes sense considering it didn't actually try to stop any of the sexist stereotypes, just treat them as weapons to be used to their advantage. And resulted in a lot of 'male feminists' who really just developed a more particular type of madonna-whore complex.
