They would've have let you sign an affidavit stating the reason why you didn't have one (which they cannot challenge) and permitted you to cast a regular, uniform ballot.

Good to know, thank you. The whole situation made me laugh a little because the day before I had been explaining to my friend/recent Texan from California that you absolutely did not need a photo ID to vote.

Oh a recent Texan from California you say https://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/need-id.html Here's the SoS page on it. I'm not trying to be a dick when I ask this, but is Sema Hernandez even running an actual campaign? She's raised all of $7,500 this entire cycle and I never hear anything about campaign events with her, just see her on twitter all the time. There was a Ramirez event in my town (that I couldn't make) and I've seen some Hegar events nearby. I don't mean this in the centrist "serious candidate" mantra re: her policies because her platform is great, but it just doesn't really seem like she has any kind of plan to try and actually win the primary.

I got a letter from Michael Bloomberg asking me to vote for him in the primaries, on the basis of job creation, investing money into researching alzheimer's and cancer, and most conspicuously, the ol' Juliani move of how good of a job he did helping NYC recover from 9/11. All extremely irrelevant to the current environment of inequality. It was surprising, not just because he thought I was a likely supporter, but because I thought he was just blowing off most of the primary states, so it's weird that this of all places he'd invest his money into. Did anyone else see anything like that? i say swears online posted:anyone seen any crazy local campaign ads? i'm always on the lookout Just the ads for the former mayor of plano running for the district I'm not in. To add to the voter ID talk: No, you don't need an ID to vote and you can fill out a reasonable impediment form. It will also take time that may be in short supply. Please bring a driver's license if you can because it's one of 2 forms of ID we can easily scan in (Denton county uses iPads with barcode scanning software) and lets us process people as fast as possible in these trying times. I will never turn anyone away (unless they're at the wrong polling place and they can get to their precinct before 7 pm) but long wait times only hurt our efforts to GOTV. Keep in mind that there's only 2 judges per polling station and each issue that takes additional paperwork will take up at least 5-10 minutes of our time, and all of it adds up. I wish the process was faster (or even abolished, I mean a voter card should be enough if you really want some kind of proof of voter registration IMHO) but until that happens we need to try to reduce friction as much as possible. Edit: and tell your friends that don't have IDs that you absolutely do not need an ID, but they should be prepared to go through a Process. Since 2016. Not like an hour+ wait, but there is a wait, especially at the end of the day. Early voting you can vote in any polling place in Denton county. Election day you need to go to your precinct. I also live in Carrollton so sometimes I get confused people from Collin and Dallas county trying to vote so I have to search their database to point them in the right direction
