Do they play any heavy songs?

Last time I saw them they played like 2. Was a good show but I was kinda bummed.

Yeah they played Leper Affinity, Lotus Eater, Harlequin Forest and the 2nd encore was Deliverance

e: tbh Leper Affinity and Harlequin Forest are 2 of my favorite songs, if they had thrown Baying of the Hounds in there I would have been ecstatic though

Been listening grooves into the entire Cult of Luna discog and I'm hankering for something similar. I know of Isis and Neurosis of course, but are there any other post-metal bands that hit that somewhat Scandinavian melodic feeling, mixing clean and growly vocals and giving a general vibe of being on a sad, doomed spaceship tumbling into a melancholic black hole?

Die Rettung fuer die Landwirte:
Sólstafir? Not really growly, but melancholic as gently caress. Their songs typically build and build over the course of minutes.

This is what passes for "uplifting" in their discography:

It's probably not what you're looking for but I never pass up an opportunity to recommend The Angelic Process to people: https://burningworldrecords.bandcamp.com/album/weighing-souls-with-sand

They're one of my favorite bands in that atmospheric post-metal scene.

Might not be quite what you're after but maybe try Jesu's first two albums? Very melancholic but no growls.

Speaking of SA, I spent so much time in the mid to late 2000s listening to their first 2 albums and ignoring anything beyond that after hearing Days of Greys and deciding anything outside their first 2 is trash. Mid last year I finally heard Winterhearts and Reckoning and they are like 90% as good as the first 2. There are nights when I just listen to those 4 in a row and it flows so nice like one super long album with similar songwriting.

Hell yeah.

The self-titled is an all time favorite. Tired of Me somehow goes from super depressing to sublime by the end of the song.

Really appreciate all the suggestions. Itches are being scratched, I'm liking what I'm hearing, and I'm looking forward to digging in.

Also, like once a year, I'll listen to Sonata Arctica for a week. It's like a bit of a holiday.

I was introduced to both Bewitched and Midnight at the same time, by this very thread when I was asking for recommendations for some black'n roll sorta stuff. I remember thinking Bewitched was the best of the lot, but for some reason it was Midnight that stayed with me more.

Gonna spin Spiritual Warfare to reorient myself.
